The memecoin sector is beginning to show signs of renewed strength after spending months in a prolonged consolidation phase. While Bitcoin and major altcoins continue to dominate institutional flows, several leading memecoins have started reclaiming key technical levels, suggesting speculative capital may once again be rotating into the sector.

PEPE, SHIB, and BOME are among the first to flash bullish signals, with each token testing or breaking important resistance zones backed by improving momentum and rising buying interest. Although confirmation is still needed, it raises an important question: Is memecoin mania making a comeback, or is this simply another relief rally before the next leg down?

PEPE Tests Breakout After Triple Bottom Recovery

The PEPE price is showing one of the strongest recovery structures after forming a clear triple-bottom pattern. The repeated defense of the 0.0000025 region indicates that buyers are steadily absorbing selling pressure, preventing further downside despite multiple retests. The latest rally has pushed the token back toward the 0.0000029 resistance zone, a level that has capped price advances throughout July. A decisive daily close above this supply area would confirm the bullish reversal pattern and shift the short-term market structure in favor of buyers.

The RSI has climbed above its signal line and is approaching the bullish zone, reflecting strengthening buying momentum. Meanwhile, Open Interest has started rising alongside price, suggesting fresh capital is entering the derivatives market rather than the move being driven solely by short covering. If PEPE successfully flips the current resistance into support, the next upside objective lies near 0.0000034, while failure to sustain above the breakout zone could see the token revisit the 0.0000026–0.0000025 support region before another breakout attempt.

Storj files for bankruptcy, explores equity path for tokenholdersDecentralized cloud storage provider Storj Labs has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The company said it plans to keep its network running while restructuring legacy liabilities and exploring an ownership pathway for STORJ tokenholders.

On Sunday, Storj said it filed the voluntary case in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of West Virginia. The company said ordinary operations and customer services would continue during the process, subject to court oversight, while its parent company, Inveniam, would continue to support the business.The restructuring could become an unusual test of whether utility-token holders can participate in the ownership of a company emerging from bankruptcy.

In an open letter to its community, Storj said its liabilities largely predate its current strategy and are too substantial to resolve through business growth alone. It said the network continues to operate normally and its token’s utility is unchanged.

STORJ showed no significant immediate price reaction following the announcement, trading around $0.072 at the time of writing, according to CoinGecko.Storj said management intends to propose a mechanism allowing tokenholders to participate in the reorganized company’s equity.

However, Storj has not disclosed how tokenholder eligibility would be determined, whether participation would involve a token snapshot or lockup, or how much equity might be allocated. The company acknowledged that any plan must follow bankruptcy priorities and receive court approval.

Cointelegraph reached out to Storj for comment but did not receive a response before publication.

Bitcoin Not Facing Immediate Quantum Threat, Coinbase CEO Says
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong says quantum computing does not pose an immediate threat to Bitcoin. However, he also stressed that the cryptocurrency industry must begin preparing now for a future in which sufficiently powerful quantum computers become a reality.

In a post on X, Armstrong announced the launch of the Bitcoin Security Consortium, a new initiative backed by Coinbase alongside BlackRock, Fidelity Digital Assets, Block, Blockstream, Strategy and other major industry participants.

The consortium aims to support the long-term security of the Bitcoin network and coordinate efforts to prepare the flagship cryptocurrency for the eventual arrival of quantum computers.

The announcement comes as Coinbase published a detailed roadmap outlining its own post-quantum strategy. The exchange said it is developing a quantum-resistant version of its proprietary key management system, known as PQ-CoreKMS.

According to the exchange, there is high confidence that fault-tolerant quantum computers will eventually be built. However, its quantum-focused board also found that such a threat is not imminent. The real lies in coordinating secure migrations across decentralized blockchain networks with millions of users.

Coinbase will co-host working sessions with Bitcoin Core developers, cryptographers and researchers beginning in August to discuss migration strategies. The company also pledged engineering resources and funding for this purpose.

In recent years, the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) completed the selection and standardization of the first post-quantum cryptographic algorithms. Governments and technology companies have already started transitioning critical infrastructure toward these new standards.
