US government transfers seized Bitcoin linked to steroid probe

The US government moved a small amount of bitcoin on April 10 from wallets that Arkham Intelligence linked to a criminal case. The transfer involved 2.438 BTC, worth about $177,000, sent to a Coinbase Prime address.

US government moved 2.438 BTC from seized wallets tied to an alleged steroid conspiracy case.

Arkham linked the funds to Glenn Olivio, who faced charges filed in 2025.

The transfer renewed focus on how seized bitcoin moves under the federal reserve policy.

Arkham data showed two separate transactions from wallets labeled “U.S. Government: Glenn Olivio Seized Funds.” Both transfers went to the same Coinbase address, beginning with 3EMqu.

Government-linked bitcoin transfers are not unusual. Federal agencies often move seized assets for custody, consolidation, or other handling during legal and administrative processes.

The latest move still drew attention because the funds may be tied to a 2025 federal case. The transfer also comes after the Trump administration said it had stopped selling seized bitcoin.

That policy became clearer after President Donald Trump signed an executive order creating a strategic bitcoin reserve. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent later said the government would keep bitcoin obtained through criminal forfeitures.

According to historical data, the average level sits closer to about 75% of supply in profit. Therefore, the current market cycle is now below typical levels.

Bitcoin finished the week just above the $71,000 level, prolonging a nearly two-and-a-half-month-long battle with its 200-week moving average. Ethereum printed a modest green weekly candle near the $2,100 mark while most other altcoins either bled down or traded sideways.

Regardless, blocks are being produced and Bitcoin is still consolidating in what Mel Mattison has described as a “textbook” pre-uptrend pattern. Crypto’s next move may be sparked by macro developments, but could also simply succumb to the 4-year cycle and the classic technical indicators, as PlanB is anticipating. Time will tell.

All major stock indices saw surprise moves to the upside, with the S&P 500, Dow, and Nasdaq all up nearly 4% on the week. Gold and silver both resumed their recoveries while oil cooled off, currently sitting below the $100 mark. The VIX has collapsed back to the 19.5 level, failing to reach the “Liberation Day” highs by a long shot.

Once again, developments (or perhaps simply rhetoric) relating to the situation in Iran dominated the week. A supposed ceasefire around Hormuz triggered bounces both in the stock market and in Bitcoin, though it’s unclear how rational that response was. Bob Elliott argued that shipping volumes remain so impaired that oil will not see meaningful relief unless transit

After seeing multiple weeks of little to no fresh capital intake, it appears that momentum is returning to the Bitcoin ETF ecosystem as this week has come with a positive switch.

With momentum gradually building again, the Bitcoin ETFs have seen a massive resurgence in weekly inflows as they have just achieved the biggest inflow seen in the last six weeks.

Bitcoin ETFs hit $789 million in weekly inflow

On Saturday, April 11, data from SoSoValue shows that Bitcoin ETFs have recorded the biggest inflow seen in April. While this has been followed by prolonged volatility in the broader crypto market, the inflow outweighs levels seen throughout March.

Apparently, the last time such a weekly inflow surge was recorded was in February. Hence, the Bitcoin ETFs have achieved a total inflow of $789 million over the last week, marking the highest weekly inflow seen since Feb. 27.

This suggests that momentum has returned to the Bitcoin ETF market after several days and weeks of consistent capital withdrawals.

BlackRock dominates as institutional interest reignites

Institutional participants moved with extreme caution in the past week, where the funds only saw mild daily inflows and major withdrawals, bringing their performance last week to a very weak close of $22.34 million.

While confidence appears to have returned to the market, investors poured in massive capital, bringing the weekly inflow near $800 million, which could be bullish for Bitcoin’s price in the coming week.

As usual, BlackRock took the lead, accounting for nearly 80% of the total $789 million inflow recorded by the combined Bitcoin ETFs over the week.

The leading fund has pulled in a whopping $612 million out of the total inflow recorded, while other funds saw lesser to no inflows.
