The Main Risks
Supply Inflation: In April, 9.92 million tokens from contributor unlocks will enter the market. While small compared to overall trading volume, repeated supply increases could make it harder for the price to rise.
Market Competition: Hyperliquid enjoys a first-mover advantage, but the decentralized exchange (DEX) space is crowded. Larger, better-funded competitors could challenge its position.
Regulatory Constraints: U.S. residents cannot access the official platform due to geoblocking. Until regulators provide clearer guidance, global growth could remain limited.
Outlook and Potential
Despite these challenges, HYPE still has strong bullish sentiment, partly thanks to its buyback-and-burn program, which reportedly destroyed $1 billion worth of tokens in 2025. Analysts are optimistic about HYPE’s recovery and growth. For example, Arthur Hayes has suggested the token could reach $150 by August 2026.
This prediction depends on Hyperliquid’s ability to capture liquidity when traditional markets are closed—a strength highlighted by its $1 billion surge in oil-related trading volume. For investors, the key will be balancing the structural risks with the protocol’s aggressive deflationary model.
