The Harsh Reality of New Crypto: Just 7% of Major Tokens Beat Their Launch Price

The firm tracked 113 coins since their token generation event (TGE) price, with only 8 of them now above that price, a median return of -95.7%.

The sample is limited to projects with a market capitalization above $100 million as of July 21, CryptoRank told CryptoPotato.

CryptoRank Study: Eight Exceptions to the Rule

Eight coins included in the survey are in profit, led by $HYPE, $ONDO, EVA, and $NIGHT.

Hyperliquid’s $HYPE was up 1,519% from its launch price at the time of the survey’s publication on July 21st. Ondo Finance’s $ONDO followed at 101.4%, with EverValue Coin (EVA) and Midnight Network ($NIGHT) up a more modest 20.3% and 16.5% respectively.

These figures are revealing, as we can see that even among those that are up, only a small handful showed outsized performance, with six of the eight achieving double-digit increases at best. It’s worth noting that $HYPE was also listed in the new S&P Pantera Digital Asset Index, which excluded many high-performing crypto assets, including Bitcoin.

CryptoRank states that sell-offs, thin liquidity, and regulatory uncertainty were the main causes of major drawdowns in these projects, although the market has also observed major crashes due to exploits and other factors in the last two years.

Only 7.1% of Tokens Launched Since 2024 Are Still in Profit

Out of 113 projects with a market capitalization above $100M, only 8 are trading above their TGE price, while 105 are already in the red.

Across Protocol’s Risk Labs-operated relayer lost less than $4 million after an attacker fabricated $41.7 million in Solana deposit events, according to a post-incident report released by the cross-chain protocol. 1,627 fake deposits worth $41.7 million targeted 18 chains during the Solana attack.

Risk Labs’ relayer paid $4.5 million across 581 fraudulent requests before suspending service.

Around $500,000 in attacker funds remained trapped, reducing the net loss below $4 million.

Across restored Solana transfers through CCTP, while user funds and the ACX buyback remained unaffected.

Across attacker forged 1,627 Solana deposits

The attack occurred between 05:07 and 06:14 UTC on July 17, according to the Across Protocol post-mortem. The attacker used 1,627 single-use Solana wallets to create the same number of fake deposit events.

On the surface, the past week appeared quite positive for the primary cryptocurrency given the overall market sentiment. After dipping to $63,750 on Monday, the asset went on a highly successful run and soared to $67,000 on Tuesday evening for the first time in over a month. Some of the reasons behind this jump included renewed ETF net inflows and new purchases from whales.

However, the fragile market state failed to provide more rally support, and BTC went downhill in the following days. It dropped to $64,750 on Thursday, before it jumped by a grand on Friday morning. However, another rejection followed, which is rather typical for Fridays in the past several weeks, and BTC dipped by $2,000 after US President Trump warned the EU about a new set of tariffs.

Bitcoin has been unable to stage a notable recovery since then and remains struggling at around $64,000 as of press time. Its market capitalization has dipped to $1.285 trillion, while its dominance over the altcoins has rebounded slightly to 56.3%.

Dogecoin ETFs Go Quiet Again After Brief $345K Inflow Surge
Dogecoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have returned to a stagnant phase after recording a day of $345,130 in inflow this week.

According to recent data from SoSoValue, Dogecoin ETFs saw $0 in daily total net inflow on July 24. The same was seen on July 22 and 23 when $0 was recorded in daily net inflow.

This was not entirely the narrative this week, as Dogecoin saw a day of inflow on July 21 when it recorded $345,130. This marked a brief break from the zero-inflow streak seen since July 6, with all days recording $0 in inflows.

Zero-flow days are not unusual for newer or lesser-volume crypto ETFs, particularly those tracking assets beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Dogecoin has crossed $12 million in cumulative total net inflow, despite the lull in inflows. According to SoSoValue, Dogecoin ETFs' cumulative total net inflow stood at $12.12 million as of July 24.

Dogecoin is also marking its first positive week of inflows since the week ending June 18, recording a weekly inflow of $345,130.

Dogecoin signals remain mixed

At the time of writing, Dogecoin was trading down with the rest of the crypto market, down 0.17% in the last 24 hours to $0.07.

$DOGE futures open interest is in the green, currently at $1.10 billion. $DOGE's spot price remains under pressure after falling to its lowest since November 2023 on Thursday.

The combination of rising open interest alongside a price drop might signal trader interest in shorting the declining market.

Meanwhile, a widely watched signal indicates optimism. According to crypto analyst Ali, the TD Sequential has flashed a buy signal on the monthly chart just as $DOGE approaches a major support level around $0.056. If that support holds, a rebound toward $0.16 may be on the cards, with the top of the channel near $0.45 as the broader upside target.

The upgrade has also launched dynamic resharding. This will allow the network to scale itself automatically. The chain also believes in agentic commerce and is now actively preparing for it.

$NEAR is building an open, integrated stack for the agent economy. Within this system, $NEAR Protocol intends to bring identity, liquidity, private inference, confidential execution, settlement, governance, and economics.

In fact, this announcement dates back to February 2026, marking a structural shift for the protocol amid an ongoing bear market. With pessimistic wider market sentiment, a bullish turnaround has been hard to enforce so far.

A potential rebound for $NEAR ahead?

In the last 24 hours, the altcoin has posted losses of almost 3%, with its Open Interest sliding by 4.1% too. The daily trading volume saw a marginal uptick of 5.5%, but the short-term $NEAR trend has been bearish.

Since forming a local high at $2.06 on Tuesday, 21st July, the token's price has declined by 13.5%.
