Price Driven by Macro, Not Ecosystem Progress

Addressing the disconnect, Vet explained that $XRP’s price action is largely influenced by macroeconomic conditions rather than developments within the $XRP ecosystem itself.

He noted that price movements remain outside the control of builders and contributors as external market forces continue to dictate short-term trends across crypto markets. In contrast, what the community can control is the steady improvement of the network’s utility and infrastructure.

According to him, this creates a divergence where price may lag even as the overall value of the network increases

$SOL trades at $88.15 on April 17, down 1%, as price presses into a key resistance cluster at $88.56 where the upper Bollinger Band meets a descending trendline. The move comes as wXRP brings over $100M in fresh liquidity to Solana, while derivatives activity picks up sharply around this level.

The descending channel from the October peak near $260 continues to define the chart. Since the February low near $67, $SOL has recovered inside the Bollinger Bands with price now at the upper band at $88.56. The middle band sits at $83.28 and the lower band at $77.99. The SAR at $79.51 sits below, flipped bullish since early April.

The descending trendline from October slopes down near $90 to $95, sitting just above the upper band. Both levels overlap, making $88.56 to $90 the zone that needs to break for any sustained move higher. A daily close above both puts $100 in view. The middle band at $83.28 is the first support on any pullback, then the SAR at $79.51. Losing the SAR opens the lower band at $77.99, then the February low near $67.

Geopolitical and Economic Drivers
Bitcoin breached the $75,000 mark several times in the last 24 hours as the cryptocurrency continued to hold on to gains initially made on April 13. As shown on the daily chart, bitcoin twice surpassed the mark on Wednesday evening, but its momentum stalled each time amid a wave of selling pressure.
However, a few hours before midnight, the top cryptocurrency breached the mark again before retreating slightly to consolidate near the threshold. By 5 a.m. EST, a fresh volatile session commenced as the price plunged to $74,300, only for the cryptocurrency to rally back to $75,000. The same price action repeated between 9:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., but this time, bitcoin plummeted to an intraday low of $73,309 before a quick surge saw it nearly tap the $75,000 resistance again.

The country that was once celebrated as a crypto powerhouse and an emerging mining destination has now offloaded a large chunk of its mining assets, totaling $198 million to date. 

There is no official communication regarding why the country is swiftly liquidating its once-prized BTC reserve. It could be as simple as the country needing foreign exchange amid a global slump in tourism due to an unreliable flight schedule, or it could be reversing its policy of maintaining a crypto strategic reserve earned from its mining infrastructure.

Bitcoin outlook still clouded by 'extreme fear' amid macro uncertainty and profit-taking despite rally to $76K, analysts say

Bitcoin has traded around $75,600 to $76,000, up roughly 6% over the past week, even as sentiment remains in “extreme fear.”

Analysts say the rebound has been real, but still looks flow-led and fragile, with spot demand improving while options and derivatives remain cautious.

Bitcoin traded near $75,300 on Friday after touching an intraday high above $76,300, leaving the asset up more than 6% on the week as traders leaned back into risk.

Yet, this week’s uptrend has come with an odd contrast: sentiment remains bruised, despite an almost two-month high.

Indeed, the crypto Fear and Greed Index still still stands at 21, or "extreme fear," even as bitcoin pressed higher and U.S. stocks extended their run to record territory, The Block's data shows.

This split is becoming the story of the market despite recent higher prices.

QCP Capital called the week’s rebound "relief without reopening" — a reset in pricing rather than a clean turn in the macro backdrop.

 and crypto have tracked the same cross-asset shift as equities and oil. They noted that data show lower tail-risk, softer dollar pressure, and steadier sentiment, but without a full clearing of inflation, energy, or policy stress.

Glassnode analysts struck a similarly careful note. In its latest weekly report, the firm said bitcoin is holding roughly 5% below the "True Market Mean" near $78,100, which it sees as the key near-term resistance level. Spot demand and ETF flows have improved, it said, but the recovery still lacks depth.

Profit-taking has also increased, while institutional participation remains selective, and options markets are still skewed toward downside protection.

XRP Ledger has opened voting on XLS-65 and XLS-66 to allow lending and single asset vaults.

Recent developer tests found 'no issues' in the proposed XRP Ledger Lending protocol amendment.

However, the final implementation depends on consensus vote, which is currently ongoing.

Ripple-backed $XRP Ledger validators are moving to vote on two new amendments, XLS-65 and XLS-66, leading to $XRP news headlines. If approved, these proposals would add a native lending model and asset vault model.
The suggested ‘XLS-66 Lending Protocol’ aims to facilitate “on-chain, fixed-term, uncollateralized loans using pooled funds from a Single Asset Vault.” The overview of the amendment notes that the model is based on off-chain underwriting and risk management to determine the creditworthiness of the borrowers with configurability of on-chain peer-to-peer loans. Currently, the proposal is on the list of “Open for Voting” for XRPL upgrades.
