Spot Bitcoin ETFs attract nearly $1B in weekly inflows as risk sentiment improves

Spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded nearly $1 billion in net inflows over the past week, marking their strongest performance in more than three months as market sentiment shifts toward risk assets.

Data from SoSoValue shows that spot Bitcoin ($BTC) ETFs attracted $996 muillion in total net inflows last week, the highest weekly intake since early January, when inflows reached about $1.4 billion.

Friday saw $663.9 million in inflows, the strongest single-day performance of the week. Earlier gains included $411.5 million on Tuesday and $186 million on Wednesday, followed by a more modest $26 million on Thursday. The period began with a $291 million outflow on Monday.

Total net assets across spot Bitcoin ETFs climbed above $101 billion by Friday, alongside a sharp increase in trading activity, with daily volumes nearing $4.8 billion.

Markets price in de-escalation

According to analysts at Bitunix, markets are increasingly pricing in how geopolitical tensions evolve rather than whether they persist. Signs of de-escalation, particularly around US–Iran relations, have reduced extreme risk scenarios, weakening demand for traditional safe havens like the US dollar, they said.

The analysts added that the Federal Reserve is still taking a cautious approach, and expectations for rate cuts remain limited. At the same time, concerns about US debt demand and high long-term yields are starting to weaken confidence in traditional “risk-free” assets. This has contributed to additional pressure on the dollar, further supporting flows into alternative assets, including Bitcoin.

In the wild west of money, where a forgotten password to your Bitcoin wallet can mean the difference between fortune and ruin, comes the taut 31-minute Bitcoin action-thriller Self Custody (2026). Co-directed by Garrett Patten (who also stars as the desperate lead) and Fernando Ferro, the micro-feature is produced by Patten’s own TBK Productions in association with Tucci & Company. 

The film features Entourage alum Adrian Grenier in a key supporting role, alongside UFC champion and Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo in his acting debut, and House star Odette Annable. After a private Sundance screening and pickup by Inaugural Entertainment for distribution, Self Custody (2026) arrived on Tubi and Plex before landing on Amazon Prime Video—delivering a compact, terrifying yet entertaining tale drawn from real-world stories of lost Bitcoin wallets.

Scott, a family man, finds himself in financial trouble after failing to organize his finances when his family friend and accountant gives him a call. Turns out Scott had gotten a signing bonus from some tech company he worked for in 2014, paid in Bitcoin. Today, presumably well into the 2020’s, that bonus is worth over 14 million dollars. The film follows Scott as he tries to claim this Bitcoin, quickly realizing his self-custody setup was done improperly, and he does not remember the PIN code to the wallet. 

The film is overall negative on self-custody as a practice, presenting the absolute worst-case scenario for a Bitcoin or crypto owner. A series of mistakes, presented as innocent but really born out of a lack of study or knowledge of the technology and industry, led Scott to catastrophic loss, in admittedly a very entertaining and action-packed fashion.

Judge Stanley Blumenfeld Jr. determined that the token does not meet the criteria of an investment contract, invalidating claims of unregistered securities.

The lead plaintiff, Lee Greenfield, reported losses exceeding $40,000 after investing in the Solana and Ethereum versions of the asset.

The ruling concludes that there was no “common enterprise” according to the Howey Test, exempting Jenner from federal securities fraud allegations.

On Friday, a district judge in California issued a landmark ruling by decreeing that Caitlyn Jenner’s JENNER cryptocurrency does not constitute a financial security. The decision follows a class-action lawsuit accusing the celebrity of promoting unregulated assets.

The court analyzed the case under the Howey Test, a legal tool that defines whether an asset is an investment contract. The judge concluded that there was no “common enterprise” or technical capital pooling mechanisms to justify the classification.

Despite the plaintiff’s argument that Jenner’s fame influenced the expectation of profits, the ruling maintains that investors did not share profits or losses collectively. This technical nuance is crucial for differentiating memecoins from traditional stocks.

The defense for Jenner and her late manager, Sophia Hutchins, always maintained that the Ethereum-based token lacked the characteristics of a security. The court finally validated this stance, pointing out deficiencies in the prosecution’s arguments.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (HHS OCR), Rocky Mountain Associated Physicians reported a data breach affecting approximately 50,640 individuals following unauthorized access to its network server.
Sensitive Medical and Financial Data Exposed
A forensic investigation, referenced by HIPAA Journal, found that attackers gained access to internal systems on February 2, 2026, including a database containing protected health information.
The compromised data may have included:
Full names and dates of birth
Contact details
Social Security numbers
Medical record numbers
Diagnoses and treatment histories
Health insurance information
In some cases, the exposed records may have also included financial data such as debit or credit card numbers and PINs — significantly increasing the risk to affected individuals.
Ransomware Group Claims Responsibility
Reports indicate that a ransomware group claimed responsibility for the attack, listing the organization on a dark web leak site after a ransom demand was not met. The group allegedly published stolen data online, a common tactic used to pressure victims into payment.
Response and Investigation
Following the breach, Rocky Mountain Associated Physicians engaged external cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident and strengthen its security systems.
Affected individuals are being notified and offered complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services to help mitigate potential misuse of their information.
