After a brief rally, Bitcoin price yet again faced a significant pullback and is entering a phase where price action looks quiet. After weeks of choppy movement around the $70,000–$71,000 range, Bitcoin has shifted into a tightening formation, compressing between a descending resistance trendline and rising support. At first glance, this looks like indecision. In reality, it’s a classic setup where volatility contracts before expanding sharply.

On the other hand, the whale order book shows heavy sell pressure stacked between current ranges, while strong builds below the strong support. This explains the recent price action, which is sluggish that fail to follow through and experience repeated rejections. While both buyers and sellers are positioning ahead of the next move, the question arises as to what’s next for the BTC price. 
Whale Orderbook Reveals Bitcoin’s Real Battleground

Bitcoin may appear range-bound near $70,700, but the orderbook shows a market driven by uneven liquidity rather than stability. The $71,000–$72,000 zone is thin, meaning there are not enough orders to absorb price movement, which explains the recent choppy and reactive behavior. Small moves push price quickly, but they fail to sustain because there is no depth to support continuation. This is not indecision—it’s a lack of liquidity in the middle of the range.
The real activity sits at the extremes. Heavy sell walls between $74,000 and $75,000 form a strong resistance cluster, while large bids around $69,000–$70,000 provide a solid support base.

$ETH is up about 8% over the past 24 hours versus bitcoin’s roughly 5% gain, according to CoinDesk market data, extending its outperformance to about 4 percentage points over the past week and nearly 9 points over the past month.

U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs recorded $325.8 Million in net outflows on April 13, led by $229 Million from Fidelity’s FBTC and $63 Million from ARK’s ARKB, according to SoSoValue data. The pullback marks a clear cooling in what has been bitcoin’s primary source of marginal demand.

Ether ETFs saw modest daily inflows of $7.7 million, while weekly inflows climbed to $187 million for the period ending April 10 – the strongest showing of 2026 and a sharp reversal from three straight weeks of outflows totaling roughly $308 million. Cumulative inflows have now reached a record $11.68 billion.

At the same time, activity on the Ethereum network is accelerating sharply. Daily transactions have jumped 41% week over week to roughly 3.6 million, with Artemis data showing a near-vertical rise from about 2.5 million on April 10. Among major chains, only Sonic and TON posted larger percentage gains, both from far smaller bases.

The quality of that activity, however, is less clear. Stablecoin transfer volume on Ethereum is down 42.6% over the same period and fees have fallen nearly 50%, pointing to smaller transaction sizes and lighter economic throughput.

Bitcoin, for its part, is holding firm despite the outflows, a sign of underlying spot support even as its dominant ETF bid weakens, according to Glassnode's most recent weekly report.

The company’s continued accumulation is bolstering the narrative that Ethereum’s liquid supply is being squeezed. That combination of aggressive buying and a shrinking circulating supply is seen as a longer-term bullish signal for investors, particularly as institutional focus and interest in Ethereum increase.

Bitmine stated it held 4,874,858 $ETH as of April 12, 2026, at least worth $2,206 per coin at the time of disclosure. That accounts for around 4.04% of Ethereum’s projected total supply of about 120.7 million $ETH.

Beyond Ethereum, the company revealed funds of 198 Bitcoin, $719 million in cash, and equity in Beast Industries and Eightco Holdings. The company said its combined crypto, cash, and investment portfolio totals about $11.8 billion.

The most significant update was the pace of accumulation. Bitmine gained nearly 71,524 $ETH in the last week of trading, registering its fastest buying rate since late December 2025. It cited the increase in purchases over the prior four weeks as “indicative” of confidence that Ethereum might be emerging from what it called a “mini-crypto winter.”

Bitmine’s rapid accumulation has made it one of the largest holders of Ethereum globally and a dominant force in institutional crypto treasuries. Its position now places it alongside the most influential corporate crypto balance sheets in the world.
