The DoubleZero Foundation has officially launched the public beta of its new product, DoubleZero Edge, marking a significant step toward building a high-performance decentralized data infrastructure for blockchain markets.
At its core, DoubleZero aims to create a global, permissionless fiber network optimized for ultra-low-latency data transmission—effectively a “high-speed highway” for onchain financial systems. The Edge rollout is the first real-world test of this vision.
The initial focus is on Solana’s real-time data stream, specifically “shreds” (raw block data fragments). Over time, the network is expected to expand support to additional data sources, including centralized exchanges and prediction markets.
According to the team, by combining physical fiber infrastructure with incentivized node operators, DoubleZero Edge can significantly outperform traditional internet routing in latency-sensitive environments:
~6ms average latency improvement
Up to ~20ms faster in Europe during congestion
Up to ~80ms gains in the U.S.
Over 100ms improvement in Asia under certain conditions
In high-frequency trading and market-making environments, even millisecond-level advantages can translate into better execution prices, tighter spreads, and reduced slippage.
At launch, the network already includes roughly 350 data publishing nodes, supported by ecosystem infrastructure providers such as Jito and Triton within the Solana ecosystem.
DoubleZero co-founders argue that today’s onchain markets lack “deterministic infrastructure,” forcing traders to indirectly pay for latency inefficiencies and network instability. Their goal is to remove this bottleneck by building a more predictable, performance-oriented data layer for blockchain systems.
If successful at scale, DoubleZero could become a foundational layer for next-generation onchain financial markets—where speed, determinism, and infrastructure quality become as important as liquidity itself.

💸 Funds on the move
On-chain data shows that around 75,700 ETH (~$175 million) has already been transferred across newly created wallets:
25,000 ETH sent to a fresh address
50,700 ETH split into another wallet
Smaller test transfers (like 0.7 ETH) used to probe routes
Even more concerning: part of these funds has already passed through privacy-focused protocols like THORChain and Umbra.
That’s usually the point where recovery becomes significantly harder.
🧩 A ripple effect across DeFi
This isn’t just a single protocol problem anymore — it’s spreading:
Arbitrum has already frozen 30,766 ETH tied to the exploit
Aave could be facing $123M–$230M in bad debt
The attacker reportedly used stolen funds as collateral to borrow more assets
It’s the DeFi version of a domino effect.
⚠️ The core issue: a single point of failure
At the center of the debate is LayerZero.
LayerZero claims the breach was caused by a 1-of-1 verifier setup — meaning:
Only one validator was needed to approve cross-chain messages.
That effectively created a single point of failure, allowing a malicious transaction to be treated as legitimate.
Kelp DAO, however, disputes this:
Says the setup followed default configurations
Argues the vulnerable component is part of LayerZero’s own infrastructure
So now, the question isn’t just what failed — but who is responsible.

US Senator Pushes to Move CLARITY Act Markup to May Amid Stablecoin Yield Dispute

Tillis, who has been leading negotiations between both sides, told reporters Monday that he does not expect a markup in April.

U.S. Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina has urged Senate Banking Committee Chair Tim Scott to postpone the markup of the CLARITY Act to May, citing unresolved disagreements between the crypto and banking industries over stablecoin yield provisions.

Tillis, who has been leading negotiations between both sides, told reporters Monday that he does not expect a markup in April. According to Punchbowl News, he told Scott: "It's very important to me not to accelerate things, to hear everybody, and give them a rational basis for what we do accept."

The central dispute involves whether stablecoins should be permitted to offer yield to holders. The banking industry, including community banks, argues that allowing stablecoin yield could trigger significant deposit outflows that smaller institutions would struggle to absorb without resorting to higher-cost wholesale funding.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and other crypto industry representatives have pushed for more favorable stablecoin provisions in the bill. Members of both industries were reportedly close last month to a compromise that would allow stablecoin rewards tied to activity on third-party crypto platforms, but not for passive balances.

The same day Tillis made his remarks, crypto advocacy group The Digital Chamber sent a letter to the Senate Banking Committee urging the panel to advance the legislation "as soon as the calendar allows." The group noted that more than 270 days have passed since the House passed the CLARITY Act with bipartisan support.

The planned stablecoin is expected to launch in the second half of 2026, pending approval from the De Nederlandsche Bank. It will be issued as a fully regulated electronic money token and backed 1:1 by euro reserves, ensuring full compliance with EU financial standards.
Fireblocks will supply the core tokenization infrastructure, including issuance systems, wallet technology, custody solutions, and lifecycle management tools. The platform will also integrate compliance functions such as identity verification and sanctions screening, which are central to MiCA-aligned digital asset products.
The stablecoin is primarily designed for institutional use cases, including cross-border settlement, treasury management, and tokenized asset transactions. The goal is to create a euro-native digital payment instrument that can operate across multiple banking and financial workflows.
The initiative comes amid growing concern in Europe over the dominance of dollar-backed stablecoins, which account for the vast majority of the global market. With euro-denominated tokens still representing a small fraction of supply, European institutions are accelerating efforts to build regulated local alternatives.
Regulators have also emphasized the need for stronger oversight of foreign-currency stablecoins in the region, further supporting the push for euro-based digital settlement infrastructure.
