At least 12 DeFi protocols and crypto businesses have been attacked in just over two weeks since the $280 million Drift Protocol exploit on April 1.
Attacks aimed at crypto protocols or companies since the start of April include CoW Swap, Hyperbridge, Bybit, Dango, Silo Finance, BSC TMM, Aethir, MONA, Zerion and, most recently, Rhea Finance and the Grinex exchange.

The Drift Protocol was hit with one of the largest exploits this year on April 1, losing around $280 million in a long-running social engineering attack suspected to involve North Korean-affiliated actors.

The attacks also come amid growing concerns this month that advancing AI models, such as Anthropic’s Claude Mythos and equivalent models, could eventually make it even easier for cyberattackers in the future.

South Korea is kicking off a pilot that will replace government expense credit cards with blockchain‐based deposit tokens.

Blockchain Goes TradFi?
The Ministry of Finance and Economy announced on an official press release that the pilot project for the execution of national treasury funds using blockchain‐based digital currency has been approved.

This new official venture marks the second time in which South Korea’s government uses digital currency and deposit tokens for the execution of national treasury funds, following another pilot project for building electric‐vehicle charging facilities and paying national subsidies together with the Ministry of Environment.

Deposit tokens are digital claims on commercial bank deposits, issued on permissioned blockchain rails, spendable by citizens and companies at participating merchants and service providers.

In simpler words, deposit tokens are digital versions of the money already kept in a normal bank account. The bank “wraps” those deposits into tokens on a private (permissioned) blockchain, and you can then spend those tokens at approved shops or service providers, just like using a card or mobile wallet.

In contrast with Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), that are digital versions of a country’s official money, created and managed directly by its central bank, deposit tokens have programmable settlement, transparent tracking of public money, and real‐time reporting for the state.

Pilot Details
The press release states that under the current National Treasury Funds Management Act, business promotion costs and related operating expenses are required to be paid with government purchase cards, effectively blocking the use of deposit tokens. Thanks to the new regulatory sandbox, those same payments can now be made with deposit tokens, creating a real‐world testbed for a new government

However, while the fundamental "pipes" of DeFi are as busy as ever, their native tokens, UNI and CRV, are currently locked in a battle against heavy multi-month resistance. A sustained break here, accompanied by an RSI-14 climb into the 55–65 band, would signal that the bulls are finally wrestling control back from the sellers. Near-Term Scenario Map Base Case (-15% to +25%): UNI continues to oscillate between $2.70 and $4.00. Continued DEX volume strength keeps the floor intact, but the 200-day MA likely caps any rallies without a massive volume surge. Bullish Path (+30% to +50%): A genuine DeFi comeback pushes UNI toward $4.10–$4.75. This would require a confirmed "DeFi Summer 2.0" rotation and clearly positive MACD signals. Bearish Path (-20% to -30%): If capital rotates into newer narratives like AI infrastructure or RWAs, UNI may drift toward $2.50–$2.20.
