Last night at GTC 2026, Jensen Huang announced the Vera Rubin platform, claiming a 10x improvement in inference performance per unit power compared to Blackwell, reducing inference token costs to one-tenth, and forecasting that combined orders for Blackwell and Vera Rubin will exceed $1 trillion by 2027.

Over the past two years, the inference cost of comparable GPT-4 APIs has fallen by 94%, from $36 per million tokens to less than $2. Intuitively, with computing power becoming cheaper, enterprises should spend less. However, the combined capital expenditure of the four cloud vendors—Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, and Microsoft—has increased from $154 billion to $416 billion, nearly tripling.

Huang's trillion-dollar prediction is not just marketing rhetoric; it's backed by a curve that can be plotted with data.

 Each generation makes the previous one seem pathetic.

From the H100 in 2022 to the Vera Rubin, which is scheduled for mass production in the second half of 2026, NVIDIA's AI GPUs have seen an eightfold increase in FP8 intensive inference computing power in four years. According to official NVIDIA specifications, the H100 achieves 2.0 PetaFLOPS per card, the B200 reaches 4.0 PF, and the Vera Rubin jumps directly to 16 PF.


However, not every leap comes from the same source. According to wccftech, the H200's computing cores are exactly the same as the H100, and its FP8 computing power remains unchanged. Its upgrade comes entirely from memory bandwidth (from 3.35 TB/s to 4.8 TB/s), resulting in approximately a 45% increase in inference throughput.

The real architectural shift occurred with the B200 and Vera Rubin.  Vera Rubin uses TSMC's 3nm process and features a dual-chiplet design with 336B transistors, achieving 50 PF of inference computing power at FP4 precision. According to Tom's Hard
