CryptoQuant says bitcoin rally faces rising profit-taking risk as exchange inflows jump

CryptoQuant said bitcoin's recent rally is facing rising profit-taking risk as exchange inflows spike and the price earlier reached the $76,000 resistance zone.

Large bitcoin holders are transferring bigger amounts to exchanges, "increasing the probability of near-term selling pressure," CryptoQuant added. Bitcoin's recent rally is now facing rising profit-taking risk, with several onchain indicators showing growing signs saved ling pressure, according to Crypto Quant.

Bitcoin reached above $76,000 on Tuesday, reaching its highest level since early February. The move was supported by earlier undervaluation, a temporary easing in the U.S.-Iran conflict, and weakness in the U.S. dollar, CryptoQuant said in a Wednesday report written by its head of research, Julio Moreno.

The bitcoin price (BTC) has fallen a bit to $74,800 but is testing the traders' onchain realized price at $76,800, a major bear-market resistance level that has historically capped relief rallies as holders near breakeven are incentivized to sell, capping further upside, Moreno noted.

Mizuho research analysts said New York’s proposed CRYPTO Act could raise the stakes for X Money’s “potential, eventual crypto integration.”

The Clarity Act potentially curbing non-banking institutions from offering yield could be another headwind.
X Money, the new add-on to the social media platform owned by Elon Musk, has the potential to disrupt the payments industry in the U.S. — including negatively impacting PayPal's business — Mizuho research analysts said on Thursday.

However, New York State's recently introduced CRYPTO Act could complicate any future plans X Money may have for integrating crypto payments, they said.

"The proposed New York CRYPTO Act would criminalize unlicensed virtual currency business activity in the state, raising the stakes for X's potential, eventual crypto integration," Mizuho analysts Dan Dolev and Andrew Jenkins wrote in a note to clients.

They also said the Clarity Act, which might end up limiting non-bank financial platforms' ability to offer customers yield, could hinder X Money's proposal to offer customers 6% annual percentage yield on cash balances.

"The timing of X Money's 6% APY launch is particularly sensitive," given the Clarity Act, the analysts added.

Whether or not platforms should be able to offer users some kind of yield, or rewards, for holding crypto, principally stablecoins, has been a major sticking point in efforts to advance the Clarity Act. The new legislation is meant to create a broad regulatory framework for digital assets.

Open interest (OI) on Hyperliquid's HIP-3 markets hit a record high of $2.38 billion last week. As of Wednesday, Ol sits at slightly under $2.1 billion, still near its highs despite a 12% pullback likely tied to broader risk-off moves.

HIP-3's growth trajectory has been staggering, from just around $280 million in Ol at the beginning of the year to crossing $1 billion less than a month later and $2 billion by the end of the quarter. Year-to-date, HIP-3 Ol is up approximately 580%. TradeXYZ alone accounts for over 90% of all HIP-3 ΟΙ.

On the Hyperliquid platform itself, only three of the top 10 markets by volume are crypto pairs. The rest are tokenized equity and commodity futures such as Nasdaq proxies, oil, gold, silver, and the S&P 500.
