Bitcoin Watch: A Daily Close Above This Key Level Could Push BTC Toward $94,000

Bitcoin ($BTC) has staged a notable 21% recovery over the thirty-day timeframe, pushing the largest cryptocurrency in the market above the $81,000 level for the first time since January. Now, $BTC is approaching one key resistance, which—if surpassed with a daily close—could open the door to another leg higher.

Bitcoin Targets $89,000 And $94,000

Technical analyst Ali Martinez pointed to this momentum in a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), arguing that Bitcoin continues to show “structural strength.”

Martinez referenced a bullish Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) crossover on Bitcoin’s weekly chart that occurred on April 13. Since that weekly signal appeared, $BTC has gained roughly 15% in a relatively steady grind, reinforcing the idea that the trend may be shifting rather than just bouncing randomly.

What makes the weekly Bitcoin MACD crossover particularly notable is how it has behaved historically. According to Martinez’s recap of earlier instances, the same kind of crossover preceded major multi-month rallies in prior cycles.

The October 23, 2023 crossover was followed by a 147% rally. Another example on October 14, 2024 led to a 75% rise, while the May 5, 2025 crossover resulted in a 35% rally.

Even with the broader bullish backdrop, the near-term chart still presents a key test. Martinez highlighted that Bitcoin is moving into the vicinity of the 200-day simple moving average (200SMA), currently around $83,000.

He described this area as the most important psychological and structural barrier on the daily chart. In his view, a clean daily close above this level could open the door to a macro expansion, first toward $89,000, with a secondary target near $94,000.

Bitcoin Dominance jumps 4% as BTC reclaims $80K – What’s next?

Bitcoin [$BTC] has finally crossed the $80,000 resistance level last seen in early February 2026. At press time it was trading at $80,836.16 after a hike of over 20% in the past month.

At the same time, Bitcoin Dominance [$BTC.D] also surged by 4.38% in the past month and was at 61.21%, as per Trading View data. Even when compared to the half-yearly or year-to-date surges, this represents the highest hike recorded.

Remarking on the same, Kaleo, co-founder of the NFT project LedgArt took to X and noted,

Bitcoin Dominance has slowly and steadily climbed since the market started to bounce at the end of March.

Will history repeat itself, or just rhyme?

The co-founder also made comparisons to 2020, citing similar trends in $BTC.D. During that year, Bitcoin also went through its third halving phase.

Together, these factors had assisted the buyers back then in bringing the price of Bitcoin to its previous all-time high.

In May 2020, the $BTC.D was trading at about 66%, while the price of Bitcoin was close to $8900. However, by the end of the year, the price had risen to $27,000.

Short-term holders aim to capture quick gains over relatively brief time horizons. In contrast, smart money participants focus on longer-term positioning, often independent of near-term volatility.

In this framework, sustained accumulation tends to carry greater weight than transient positioning by weaker hands.

Given this context, the chart below carries significance.

As shown, companies accumulated 50,351 Bitcoin [$BTC] in Q1 this year, the highest quarterly total on record. Notably, this accumulation coincided with a 22% correction in $BTC, highlighting the divergence between price weakness and sustained corporate demand.

However, among long-term holders, accumulation varied significantly.

In a recent report by ARK Invest, $BTC supply held by conviction buyers surged 69% in Q1 to 3.60 million $BTC, marking the highest level since 2020. This brings total long-term holder supply (155+ days) to 14.62 million $BTC, up 4.5% year-over-year.

In this context, the 50k+ $BTC accumulation by public companies further reinforces institutional demand during periods of volatility.

That said, timing matters even more.

Bitcoin’s Q1 correction followed a 23.29% correction in Q4, meaning market FUD already sat in prices.

Yet corporate treasuries still accumulated significant $BTC, raising a key question: What exactly does this sustained structural demand price in?

APAC and U.S. hours have done the heavy lifting throughout the roughly 31% price rise since Feb. 6. APAC has produced a return of 13%, with the U.S. at 11.5% and Europe lagging significantly at just 6.5%.

The U.S. session's contribution is particularly notable because it was not always the leader. For most of February and March, returns during U.S. hours were mostly flat to negative, while APAC led the recovery. But that suddenly changed in early April, with the U.S. session flipping decisively positive.

Overall, the data shows that liquidity and momentum are strongest in APAC and the U.S. While this does not guarantee the continuation of trends, it does highlight when price discovery has been most active in the ongoing phase of the cycle, which some traders may find useful for market timing and risk management.

The next obvious question is which hours are optimal for trading during these best-performing sessions.

The answer to that is the midnight UTC candle, which represents the price action between 00:00 and 01:00. This has been the best hour, producing an average return of 0.10% over three months.
