Aave court motion rejects North Korea ETH claimAave court motion filed today in New York asks a federal judge to unfreeze $71 million in ETH.Aave LLC filed an emergency motion today in the Southern District of New York to vacate a restraining notice blocking 30,765 ETH, worth roughly $71 million, from returning to exploit victims.

The filing argues the assets belong to users of the Aave Protocol harmed in the April 18 Kelp DAO bridge exploit, not to North Korea or its alleged Lazarus Group hackers.

The restraining notice was served on May 1 by Gerstein Harrow LLP, representing three sets of judgment creditors holding $877 million in unpaid terrorism awards against North Korea. Their argument: because the attackers are linked to Pyongyang’s Lazarus Group, the recovered ETH qualifies as DPRK property subject to seizure.

Aave calls that theory “flatly wrong.” Aave founder Stani Kulechov said: “The global DeFi community came together to recover assets stolen from users, and we are not going to let those assets be wrongfully redirected.”

SoFi to launch SoFiUSD stablecoin on Solana as bank expands crypto payments push

SoFi is launching its SoFiUSD stablecoin on Solana, expanding the bank’s crypto payments strategy as it pushes stablecoin infrastructure into faster and lower cost settlement networks.

Ben Reynolds, SoFi’s head of business banking, announced the move during a fireside chat at Solana Accelerate Miami 2026, where SoFi was listed on the agenda alongside payments, stablecoin, and institutional finance discussions.

“Solana is the right chain to use for payments because of the cost, the settlement speed and ultimately the throughput,” Reynolds said.

SoFi launched SoFiUSD in December 2025 as a fully reserved US dollar stablecoin issued by SoFi Bank, N.A. The company said at the time that SoFiUSD made it the first national bank to issue a stablecoin on a public permissionless blockchain.

The stablecoin is designed for banks, fintechs, and enterprise platforms, with SoFi positioning it for 24/7 settlement, card networks, retailers, remittances, and Galileo partners.

SoFi has been rebuilding its crypto business after returning to digital assets in 2025. In November, the company launched consumer crypto trading, saying it became the first nationally chartered, FDIC insured bank to let customers buy, sell, and hold crypto in the same app used for banking, borrowing, and investing.

The Solana expansion also follows SoFi’s March partnership with Mastercard to enable SoFiUSD settlement across Mastercard’s network. Mastercard said SoFiUSD is issued by an OCC regulated insured depository institution and fully reserved 1:1 by cash.

SoFi is launching its SoFiUSD stablecoin on Solana, expanding the bank’s crypto payments strategy as it pushes stablecoin infrastructure into faster and lower cost settlement networks.

Bitcoin price catalysts this week

The options market tells a story of traders who saw this coming. Nomura’s Laser Digital flagged in a Tuesday research note that desks had built cheap upside call ratio structures over the past several weeks, and that a sustained break above $80,000 would flip Bitcoin’s risk reversal indicator from negative to positive.

On Deribit, the single largest open interest position across all options contracts is an $80,000 strike call expiring May 29, with 7,493.7 $BTC behind it. Calls hold 58.69% of total options open interest versus 41.31% for puts, though near-term put volume has picked up as traders hedge the tail risk.

Two catalysts this week could push Bitcoin price in either direction. Strategy’s earnings release today will give the market its first look at how the company accounts for Bitcoin at current prices, while Friday’s nonfarm payrolls report will shape expectations for Federal Reserve policy through the summer.

Bitcoin price is up 6.2% on the week, currently trading at $81,035.

Sun's WLFI token address was blacklisted in September 2025 after blockchain data platforms flagged it for a roughly $9 million transfer. Sun said his presale tokens were unreasonably frozen and urged the team to unlock his investment.
However, the lawsuit claims that Sun was
"fully aware of World Liberty's right to freeze user tokens to protect its token holders and its community" and that he agreed to it in the project's Terms of Sale.
"Rather than acting in good faith, Justin Sun chose to detame World Liberty - repeatedly, publicly, and to millions of followers," Tom Clare, attorney for World Liberty Financial, claimed, adding that the lawsuit was a "last resort" measure seeking to protect its tokenholders and employees.
The lawsuit claims that Sun previously agreed to WLFI's "freezing authority" before publicly calling it a hidden "trap door" in a calculated effort to "harm World Liberty while potentially benefiting his own financial positions."
The lawsuit adds to WLF's prior governance concerns, after a March vote showed that 76% of voting power came from 10 wallets.
Sun called that an alarming sign of concentrated influence. WLFI clapped back and accused Sun of spreading baseless allegations to cover up his own misconduct and threatened legal action. The WLFI token rose 5% in the 24 hours leading up to 1:43 p.m. UTC on Monday, but is down over 80% since launch, according to CoinMarketCap data
