Bitcoin climbs to highest level since Feb. 5 crash that sent price plunging to $60,000



Bitcoin touched $75,900 in mid-morning U.S. trading hours on Tuesday, marking its highest level since before February 5, when the price crashed down to $60,000.

Optimism about developments in the Iran war is sparking solid gains across risk assets and continued declines in oil prices. The Nasdaq was ahead 1.2% and WTI crude was lower by 6% to $93 per barrel.

Crypto-related stocks were higher across the board as well. Strategy (MSTR) was up 7.6, Coinbase (COIN) 6.2%, Circle (CRCL) 11% and Galaxy Digital (GLXY) 8.3%.

Bitcoin miners — most of which have altered their business plans to focus on AI-related data center buildouts — were also making large upside moves, led by the former Bitfarms, now Keel Infrastructure (KEEL), which was up 20.5%. MARA Holdings (MARA) was ahead 5.8% and Hut 8 (HUT) 4.8%.

The broader macro backdrop has also turned more supportive. With the Nasdaq reaching its highest level since early February, ether ($ETH) also outperformed bitcoin, underscoring the risk-on tone across markets, said Joel Kruger, market strategist at LMAX Group.

"Overall, the past 24 hours reflect a market that is beginning to show signs of re-engagement," Kruger said, pointing to improving technicals and broader participation.

The next test for the crypto rally comes at current levels. Kruger said the $76,000 level for bitcoin, where the mid-March rebound rolled over, is a key resistance.

A decisive move above — alongside sustained strength in ether ($ETH), the second-largest cryptocurrency — would be key in determining whether the rebound can evolve into a more durable bullish trend, he said.

Why is crypto going up? Ethereum is about to tap $2,400, while Solana mirrors Bitcoin’s gain as it pushes toward $75,000 on the back of what analysts are calling the “US grand deal.” It’s a macro catalyst that may have more runway than most expect.

The rally is broad-based; Aave, HYPE, Ethereum, and Solana are all leading gains as risk appetite floods back into digital assets. Positive regulatory sentiment under the current US administration, combined with accelerating institutional inflows into ETH products, appears to be driving the move. Citi’s 12-month ETH target of $5,440 is suddenly getting attention again.

The question now is not why crypto is up, but how far it can run, and which assets offer the most asymmetric upside from here.

South Korean payments provider NHN KCP to build own Layer 1 on Avalanche
South Korean payment service provider NHN has partnered with Avalanche’s Ava Labs to build a payments-focused Layer 1 network.

The two will also jointly pursue business opportunities in tokenized deposits, stablecoins, and cross-border payments.
NHN KCP, a South Korean payment service provider, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Ava Labs to develop a payments-focused Layer 1 network.

NHN, together with the developer behind Avalanche, aims to establish a mainnet for real-world payment use cases, utilizing Ava Cloud — Ava Labs' service that enables companies to launch and manage their own L1 blockchains.

According to a statement shared with The Block, the partnership will focus on three key pillars: ultra-fast payment authorization with sub-one-second payment processing, onchain encryption of transaction data, and a payment ecosystem with customizable infrastructure for merchants.

"This agreement is highly significant as it combines NHN KCP's industry-leading payment operational expertise with world-class blockchain technology to derive an innovative model that can be immediately applied to real-world business," said Jun-seok Park, CEO of NHN KCP.

The two companies plan to verify the technical feasibility of the joint project through a proof-of-concept and expand their connections with global financial and payment companies.

In a response to The Block's inquiry, Ava Labs Head of Asia Justin Kim said the launch date for the upcoming L1 largely depends on the passage of the pending crypto regulation in South Korea.

In addition to building the L1, NHN and Ava Labs said they will jointly explore new business opportunities in digital commerce, including tokenized deposit models, multi-stablecoin settlement structures, and cross-border payments.
