The initiative is part of a multi-phase roadmap aimed at upgrading the network’s cryptographic security well before “Q-Day” becomes a real threat. In a blog post published on April 20, Ripple stated that although quantum computing does not pose an immediate threat, rapid progress in the field has made the risk credible enough to warrant proactive measures today.Ripple outlined a detailed roadmap to protect the XRP Ledger from potential quantum computing threats, with a full transition to quantum-resistant security measures targeted for 2028.The urgency behind Ripple’s timeline is driven by recent research from Google Quantum AI, which estimates that roughly 500,000 physical qubits would be required to break ECDLP-256 cryptography. This marks a significant revision of earlier assumptions, effectively reducing the estimated resource requirement by around 20 times.According to Ripple, there is also the “harvest now, decrypt later” risk, where malicious actors could collect publicly available encrypted blockchain data today, store it, and potentially decrypt it in the future once quantum computing becomes powerful enough. Per the survey, nearly 65% of respondents believe crypto is a great portfolio diversifier tool. In addition to this, nearly 79% of respondents said they plan to invest in crypto in the next three years, creating a steady momentum for crypto domains to bank on.“Sixty-five percent of respondents said they view crypto assets as an opportunity to diversify their portfolios, up 3 percentage points from 62% in the previous survey. Among those considering investing in crypto assets over the next three years, 79% said they have plans to invest. Of these, 60% expect to allocate 2% to less than 5% of their portfolios.”The survey further shared details about the current investor sentiment towards the domain. More than 30% of respondents believe crypto momentum will turn bullish next year. Nomura later noted a drop in respondents projecting a negative outlook for crypto assets as compared to last year’s statistics. Leading protocols such as Jupiter and Kamino report utilization levels near 100%, limiting access to capital for new loans.

Stablecoin lending yields have climbed to 10.2%, marking record levels in the network’s credit infrastructure.

Following the KelpDAO security incident that shook investor confidence, the DeFi sector on Solana is undergoing a systemic challenge. The massive outflow of capital has created a bottleneck in stablecoin availability, driving up operating costs.

Technical data shows the magnitude of the crisis: Jupiter Lend, with $421 million in deposits, maintains a 99% utilization rate. Meanwhile, the Kamino market records an interest rate of 10.2% on $USDC, with barely any remaining liquidity to withdraw or borrow.

The pressure on the ecosystem is not superficial, as the main credit markets are operating at the limit of their technical capacity. This situation forces users to re-evaluate their positions in the face of the scarcity of liquid assets.

As liquidity providers withdraw their funds for fear of contagion, interest rates act as a defense mechanism. However, this rising cost of credit is paralyzing leverage strategies that are vital to the network.

Smaller protocols are also feeling the impact, with platforms like Marginfi reporting utilization levels exceeding 88%. The interconnection of Solana’s DeFi markets amplifies every capital outflow movement at an accelerated pace.
