Usually, prices tend to enter healthy corrections after such breakouts. That suggested that Centrifuge prices may start dipping to around the 0.5 Fibonacci Retracement level or optimal reversal zones between the 0.618 and 0.786 Fib levels.

Bitcoin community weighs in on reports of Iran's crypto toll for oil ships
The Bitcoin ($BTC) community is discussing the feasibility and implications of the Iranian government accepting $BTC for tolls paid by oil tankers crossing the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping lane through which about 20% of the global oil supply passes.

The reactions were sparked by a Financial Times report, published on Wednesday, which said that the Iranian government was considering $BTC payments for oil tolls to avoid sanctions imposed by the United States.

Several conflicting reports have been published since the Financial Times article, which suggest that the tolls are payable in stablecoins or Chinese yuan, according to Alex Thorn, the head of firmwide research at crypto investment firm Galaxy.

$BTC advocate Justin Bechler said that stablecoins can be frozen by the issuer and cited the compliance controls introduced in the GENIUS stablecoin regulatory framework as reasons why the Iranian government would not collect tolls in US-dollar stablecoins. He said:

“USDT and USDC include built-in blacklist functions at the smart contract level. When an address is flagged, the issuer can freeze the tokens, rendering them completely illiquid. The law's enforcement depends entirely on the compliance of issuers.

Bitcoin has no issuer, no compliance officer to pressure, and no freeze function. Iran's pivot toward Bitcoin follows directly from this structural reality,” he added.

If the Iranian government begins accepting $BTC for oil tanker payments, it would boost Bitcoin’s credibility as a neutral settlement layer for international transactions, advocates say.

In a blog post published on 10 April, the company said its ability to freeze USDC is “not discretionary,” but instead depends on lawful orders from relevant authorities.

The statement comes days after an on-chain report alleged more than $420 million in compliance lapses linked to delayed or absent freezes.

“Freezing is a legal obligation, not a discretionary tool”
Circle pushed back on the idea that it can act unilaterally to block funds, stating that USDC operates within U.S. and European regulatory frameworks.

According to the company, freezing assets requires a formal legal process. Also, acting outside those constraints could undermine property rights and financial privacy.

The distinction is central to its response: while the technology enables blacklisting, Circle maintains that the decision to act must come from law enforcement or the courts, not the issuer itself.

Drift exploit brought response times into focus
The clarification follows criticism tied to the 1 April exploit of Drift Protocol, during which over $270 million was reportedly drained.

Reports claimed that more than $230 million in USDC was bridged across chains during the incident without being frozen. The event raised questions about how quickly issuers can respond in fast-moving exploit scenarios.

The report also cited past incidents — including Cetus, Mango Markets, and Nomad — where USDC-linked funds were allegedly frozen late or not at all.

Circle’s response does not directly address specific cases. Instead, it reframes the issue as a legal constraint rather than an operational failure.
