In response, Shiba Inu’s X account shared a GIF of a man crying and drinking under red lighting, appearing stressed and sweaty. The post suggests that Pepe’s expectations may not match the current market reality, leading to frustration.

This has drawn scrutiny from lawmakers, academics and market experts, as questions mount over whether those price movements have created lucrative opportunities for market manipulation or insider trading.

A recent University of Oxford Faculty of Law study found sharp swings in global markets following rapid changes in U.S. tariff policy, including a sequence in which prices across crypto and stock markets fell after new tariffs were announced, then rebounded after Trump partially rolled them back days later.

The scale and timing of those moves, the author noted, created “fantastic trading opportunities” for anyone with advanced knowledge of the decisions. Also, those back-and-forth decisions by Trump have been widely criticized and called the Trump Again Chickens Out (TACO) dynamic.

‘A great time to buy’

The issue gained further attention after Trump posted “THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO BUY!! on Truth Social in April 2025 shortly before announcing a tariff adjustment that sent markets higher, prompting calls from lawmakers, including Senator Adam Schiff, for an investigationinto potential insider trading or market manipulation.

Bitcoin options worth roughly $7.9 billion are set to expire on Deribit this Friday, with positioning data pointing to $62,000 and $75,000 as key levels to watch out for.

The $75,000 level is where most trading in call options, which represent bullish bets, has happened, according to data source Glassnode. Around $395 million in call open interest is concentrated at the $75,000 strike as of writing. That figure represents the dollar value of the number of active call options contracts today.

More importantly, “gamma exposure” is deeply negative at the 75,000 strike – it means dealers’ hedging flows are likely to amplify price movements around this level. As the price rises, they may need to buy more, and as it falls, sell more, reinforcing the direction of the move.

As a result, the 75,000 level can act as a zone of heightened volatility, where price swings become sharper rather than stabilizing.

Options are derivative contracts that give the buyer the right to buy or sell the underlying asset, in this case, BTC, at a predetermined price at a later date. A call option gives the right to buy and a put option gives the right to sell.

It's like paying a booking fee to reserve a right to transact a house at today’s price – you have the right to buy or sell it later at that price, but you’re not obligated to go through with the transaction if the market price moves against you.
On the downside, the largest concentration of put open interest sits at $62,000, with roughly $330 million in contracts, marking the main zone of downside protection.

Between the two, there's this max pain level of $71,000, which can act as a magnate heading into the expiry. The “max pain” point is the price level at which the largest number of options contracts are expected to expire worthless on the settlement date, though this level can shift as prices and open interest change leading up to expiry.

Recent concerns about advancements in quantum technology have become a significant and widely debated topic in the cryptocurrency market.

At this point, the cryptocurrency sector is intensifying its efforts to improve quantum resilience following a significant research report published by Google in late March.

In this context, the quantum threat is not only worrying the Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum ($ETH) communities, but altcoins have also taken action against quantum risk.

Finally, Ethereum ($ETH) founder Vitalik Buterin also made a statement and announced the five-year roadmap.

In his opening address titled “The Future Direction of the Ethereum Protocol” at the 2026 Hong Kong Web3 Festival, Vitalik Buterin emphasized enhanced scalability and quantum security as key objectives.

While quantum risk is one of the most important issues on Ethereum’s roadmap, Buterin emphasized that $ETH’s core mission is not to compete in speed with high-frequency transaction platforms, but to become the world’s most secure, decentralized, and perpetually open “world computer.”

Buterin said that short-term tasks include raising the gas limit to increase scalability, extending EVM with Zero Knowledge Proofs (CKEVM), and supporting smart contract wallets and quantum-resistant signatures through computational abstraction.

Buterin added that they plan to reduce transaction confirmation time to between 10 and 20 seconds by 2028 and introduce zkVM technology, which will enable even low-spec devices to directly verify the chain.

Buterin concluded by noting that while quantum-resistant signature algorithms have existed for 20 years in the field of quantum security, they suffer from efficiency issues. Current quantum-resistant signatures are 2-3 KB (compared to 64 bytes today) and cost ~200,00
