A cybersecurity researcher from Brazil exposed a large-scale scam operation after buying a “Ledger” hardware wallet from a Chinese marketplace listing that looked legitimate and was priced the same as the official store. The packaging appeared original from a distance, but the device was counterfeit.

When the researcher connected it to Ledger Live installed from ledger.com, it failed the Genuine Check, confirming it was not a real Ledger device. This failure led the researcher to open the device and examine its internal hardware and firmware

Ethereum price, just like any other major alt, is hovering and holding the bullish prediction. The network also reminds us that ETH has never once stopped producing blocks.

At BUIDL Asia 2026, Ethereum Foundation researcher Luca Zanolini confirmed a roadmap target to reduce transaction finality to under one minute. Meanwhile, the long-to-short ratio sits at 1.54, a quiet signal that smart money is accumulating while retail hesitates.

Zanolini’s remarks, delivered April 17 at the Sofitel Ambassador Seoul, cut to the heart of Ethereum’s design philosophy.

“Ethereum was designed to keep producing blocks even if participation drops,” he said. “The next challenge is to preserve that feature while reducing transaction finality to less than one minute.”

In 2023, Ethereum kept producing blocks uninterrupted even after client errors knocked more than half of all validators offline. The finality improvement carries a 2029–2030 implementation target, and the fundamental thesis is getting reinforced.

Ethereum Price Prediction: $2,420 the Target

ETH has traded in a tight bullish range between $2,285 and $2,360 over the past 24 hours, with 24-hour trading volume exceeding $18 billion. This figure reflects active participation at these levels, without liquidity drifting lower. The funding rate is essentially neutral at 0.0001%, suggesting no extreme leverage in either direction.

The critical support zone is $2,250. As long as ETH holds above that floor, the technical structure favors a push toward $2,420 resistance. A clean break above $2,420 opens the path to $2,870, a level that would approach territory last seen before the drawdown from ETH’s all-time high of $4,950. T

Authorities Hold McCann Pending Autopsy
Tanzanian police are questioning McCann, founder of the crypto hedge fund Asymmetric, after his fiancée, Ashly Robinson, 31, died on April 9 at a hospital in Zanzibar. Robinson had been rushed there after hotel staff found her unresponsive in her room the day before.

Based on reports from NBC News and CBS News, police have ruled her death a suicide — but they are holding McCann’s passport while they await the results of a formal autopsy.

The couple had been staying at the same hotel when a dispute arose between them. Officials said the two were separated and moved to different rooms following what police described as a “misunderstanding.” Staff later found Robinson in her room with a belt around her neck.

McCann has not commented publicly. He could not be reached for comment.

Family Pushes Back On Suicide Ruling
Robinson’s relatives are not satisfied with the official account. Her sister, Alyssa Endres, told NBC News that “none of this makes sense.”

According to the family, Robinson had recently celebrated her 31st birthday and her engagement to McCann — both of which had happened just days before her death. Endres described her sister as happy at the time.


 Robinson, who went by the name Ashlee Jenae on social media, posted her last photo April 5, showing her feeding a giraffe while she celebrated her birthday.
The family’s challenge to the police ruling adds another layer of uncertainty to a case that is already far from closed. Authorities have not said when the autopsy results are expected or whether additional charges could follow.

A fresh analysis from CoinGecko indicates that the cryptocurrency market has entered a sustained "crypto winter" in the first quarter of 2026, reversing much of the momentum seen in late 2025.

According to the report, total crypto market capitalization declined by more than 20% in Q1 2026. Trading activity also weakened sharply. Spot volumes across the top 10 centralized exchanges dropped to $2.7 tril for Saved down from $4.5 trillion in the previous quarter, a steep 39% decline.

Bitcoin reflected this broader weakness, falling 22% over the same period. This came despite having reached an all-time high of roughly $126,000 six months earlier.

Notably, Bitcoin underperformed traditional equity markets during the same period. The NASDAQ Composite declined 7.1%, while the S&P 500 fell 4.8%, marking their weakest quarterly performance since 2022.
