On-chain analytics firm Glassnode discussed the latest trends in Bitcoin's Realized Profit in a new post on X. This metric measures the total profit realized by Bitcoin addresses/investors through their transactions.
​According to the chart shared by Glassnode, which tracks the 24-hour Simple Moving Average (SMA) of this indicator over the past few months:
​Profit Spikes: The 24-hour SMA for Realized Profit saw several significant spikes in recent days.
​Timing: These spikes coincided with BTC rebounding from recent lows and breaking back above the $73,000 level.
​Behavior: This suggests that investors utilized the rally as an opportunity to "take profits" off the table.
​During these peaks, profit-taking exceeded $20 million per hour. Due to this selling pressure, BTC has since retreated below $71,000, indicating that profit realization was likely a primary factor in capping the current rally.
​Liquidity Challenges and Sideways Movement
This pattern has recurred several times within the recent trading range. Glassnode noted: "Each approach to the $70,000–$80,000 range faces thin liquidity and profit-taking pressure, which limits the magnitude of the rebound." Given that the latest rally was hindered by selling, it appears the market still lacks sufficient new liquidity to absorb the overhead supply.

Bitcoin’s persistent sideways movement means a significant portion of the user base remains "underwater." As noted in another Glassnode post, a massive number of addresses on the BTC blockchain are currently in a state of loss.

A rising share of on-chain payments is machine-led, but DWF, BCG, and others show the so‑called agent economy still depends on centralized gateways.
Artificial intelligence and crypto-native tools are quickly shaping a future where software agents can fund themselves, run cross-chain strategies, and move through financial markets with no one at the controls.

According to a recent report by DWF Ventures, automated and agentic activity now accounts for an estimated 19% of all on-chain transactions, with 17,000 agents launched since 2025.

The report added that the agent economy is already here.

For now, most of this machine-driven money movement happens through bots shuffling stablecoins across a patchwork of payment systems that still lean on centralized gateways, managed issuers, and card-linked rails.

Crypto is building the interfaces for machine payments before it has built the autonomy those interfaces are supposed to enable.

Before treating DWF's 19% figure as a clean measure of autonomous finance, it helps to understand what it actually measures.

Stablecoin Insider's data for the first quarter of 2026 shows that bots accounted for roughly 76% of stablecoin transaction volume, while total stablecoin transaction volume reached $28 trillion, up 51% quarter over quarter.

Retail-sized transfers fell 16% over the same period, the sharpest decline on record.

Automation, routing, and high-frequency machine activity drove that growth. Software systems moving programmatic dollars across exchanges, wallets, liquidity venues, and payment intermediaries constitute the machine economy's currently visible form.
