On Tuesday, Bittensor ($TAO) price experienced downward pressure despite the bullish sentiment in the overall crypto market, declining its price below $241 with a drop of over 5%.

The dip in the cryptocurrency comes amid an internal chaos after the departure of the biggest subnet, Covenant AI. At the time of writing this, Bittensor’s price is currently trading at around $241.97 after a dip of 5.64%, according to CoinMarketCap.

The cryptocurrency currently holds a market capitalization of around $2.62 billion. Its daily trading volume also revolves around $375.95 million.

Bittensor Falls on Centralization Concerns and High Open Interest

According to Coinglass, Bittensor’s open interest now revolves around $400.18 million. This figure suggests the total value of all unsettled $TAO futures and perpetual contracts on major crypto exchanges. The current $TAO price is revolving around $242

The current open interest is showing that the network is still carrying a lot of borrowed money even after the sell-off following the recent controversy. When open interest stays high like this, it makes the token very sensitive to sudden price movements. If the crypto market gets a bullish sign, then the rise in the open interest could spark a recovery through a short squeeze. Although the current crypto market is filled with bullish sentiment, Bitcoin has soared above $75,000.

On the other hand, if the crypto market faces downward pressure with any negative news, then the same high leverage could trigger more liquidation.

According to TradingView, the 14-day Relative Strength Index is currently revolving around 32. This shows that the token is currently in oversold territory, and it could attract buyers, which can help the cryptocurrency to see a rebound.

Everyone keeps asking the same question: why does $ETH keep sliding?
The honest answer: the market is pricing fear, not facts.
Right now, Ethereum is caught in a classic risk-off environment. Macro conditions are doing most of the damage — a stronger U.S. dollar, delayed expectations for Fed rate cuts, sticky inflation concerns, and ongoing geopolitical and trade uncertainty. In times like this, investors pull back from risk assets, and liquidity tends to flow toward “safer” plays. Bitcoin has been the main beneficiary, with BTC dominance staying elevated around 57%, leaving ETH under pressure.
On top of that, Ethereum ETFs have delivered a mixed and often disappointing flow picture. After the initial excitement, we’ve seen sustained periods of net outflows, with large players repositioning ETH exposure and adding constant sell-side pressure. Whale movements and high-profile wallet activity have only added to retail anxiety.
There’s also a structural shift happening in the ecosystem. Layer 2 scaling has been a major win for users, but it has also diverted activity away from Ethereum mainnet, reducing fee capture and weakening the ETH burn narrative that once supported a stronger deflationary story. Combine that with leveraged liquidations cascading through the market, and the result is persistent downside pressure and weak price action.
The chart looks ugly. Sentiment is low. Fear is dominant.
But here’s what many are missing:
Ethereum’s fundamentals are still strong.
On-chain data tells a very different story:
Network activity recently surged ~41% week-over-week
DeFi total value locked (TVL) remains above $55B
Ethereum still controls roughly 57% of DeFi market share
Active users, staking participation, and real-world use cases continue to grow
The ecosystem is not collapsing — it is evolving.
Future upgrades like Glamsterdam aim to improve scalability and gas efficiency further, strengthening Ethereum’s long-term foundation.

Major cryptos, including Bitcoin, remained relatively stable, yet altcoins faced mild selling pressure. Hyperliquid moved in line with this trend and underperformed the wider market.

Hyperliquid ($HYPE) Dips

The overall crypto market cap slipped slightly during the same period. Altcoins tend to yield significantly less returns compared to larger assets under such conditions. This is how Hyperliquid did as well — a symptom of the overall mood more than a flaw in the project. There was no big project-related announcement that might have explained the decline. The lack of a new catalyst exposed the price to market changes. That said, activity in trading weakened.

Volume contracted more than 10% to about $376 million. This implied further reduced traders participation and near-term interest. Volume declines also suggested that much of the sell-off wasn’t strong on conviction. It did not signal panic selling or massive outs. Instead, it was a slow-turning sign after recent gains. Hyperliquid still managed to register an increase of about 15% over the past week – suggesting the greater direction was positive.

In the short term, price levels will continue to matter. The token remains above the $42 support range (the holding level of the token). Traders are watching this level closely. If it lasts, a rebound in the $48 range is still a possibility. The recovery would further be bolstered with a move back above $46 and heavier volume. And if this support fails, there are risks. A break below $42 might lead the price to a level approaching $38. That represents more correction to the general trend forward in that direction.

President Donald Trump is set to host another in-person event for his meme coin holders later this month at Mar-a-Lago, but in perhaps a sign of times, the price to attend is considerably lower than it was last year.

The team behind President Trump’s Solana-based token, which trades as $TRUMP, finalized the list of attendees on Tuesday, with the guest list based on a leaderboard tied to token holdings and other factors.

Last time around, a select group of attendees attained “VIP” status by each amassing millions of dollars’ worth of the tokens. But earning the VIP label for President Trump’s latest event, a luncheon and conference to be held for top holders, cost roughly 90% less this time around—down from approximately $3 million to around $300,000.

VIP status, the top level of access for the event, grants attendees a private “meet and learn” experience with “superstar” attendees like Tether’s Paolo Ardoino, retired boxer Mike Tyson, and Ark Invest’s Cathie Wood. That bonus reward, beyond access to the luncheon with President Trump, was granted to the top 29 registered $TRUMP holders who earned points based on time-weighted holdings of the token from March 12 to April 14.
