Gold prices eased slightly in Asian trading on Wednesday after touching a one-month high, with spot gold falling around 0.6% to $4,815 per ounce and futures also edging lower. The move comes after a strong rally in the previous session, as traders reassess a mix of cooling inflation data and shifting geopolitical risks.
At first glance, this looks like a simple pullback after a sharp rise. But the story behind it is more complex.
On the macro side, softer-than-expected U.S. Producer Price Index (PPI) data has strengthened expectations that the Federal Reserve may have room to cut interest rates later this year. Lower rates typically weaken the dollar and improve the appeal of non-yielding assets like gold.
At the same time, geopolitics remains a key driver. Tensions between the U.S. and Iran are still unresolved, with markets closely watching ceasefire negotiations and the risk of renewed escalation. Any breakdown in talks could quickly push investors back into safe-haven assets.
In reality, gold is being pulled in two directions:
Easing inflation and potential rate cuts → bullish for gold
Ongoing geopolitical uncertainty → also bullish for gold
Short-term profit-taking after a strong rally → temporary pressure
So this isn’t necessarily a shift in trend, but rather a pause as markets wait for the next major catalyst.

Sun stated that the goal was to develop Tron’s quantum resistance technology, arguing that this move would make Tron the first major public blockchain.

Sun added that this upgrade would include the deployment of a post-quantum signature method standardized by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce, on the mainnet.

A Fake App Scam Affecting Nearly All Cryptocurrency Users Has Come to Ligh

A new fraud case has emerged in the cryptocurrency world that has attracted attention.

According to information shared by blockchain researcher ZachXBT, a fake Ledger Live application on Apple’s App Store platform stole a total of $9.5 million from more than 50 users between April 7 and 13.

According to the investigation, the attack spanned five different blockchains, including Bitcoin, EVM-based networks, Tron, Solana, and Ripple. The fake application, which obtained users’ wallet information, quickly emptied assets by redirecting them to different addresses.

ZachXBT, tracing the stolen funds, stated that the assets were laundered through more than 150 KuCoin deposit addresses. These addresses are allegedly linked to a centralized “mixer” service called AudiA6, which is claimed to offer illegal fund laundering services with high commissions. It was noted that there has been a recent increase in illegal activity on KuCoin, and it was recalled that the exchange previously paid over $300 million in fines in the US for anti-money laundering (AML) violations and was banned from registering new EU users by Austrian regulators in February 2026.

One of the most striking aspects of the incident was the magnitude of the losses suffered by some of the victims. According to on-chain data, three major investors alone lost millions of dollars. On April 9th, one user lost 3.23 million USDT, on April 11th another user lost 2.07 million USDC, and on April 8th yet another victim lost a total of 20.64 BTC, 211 stETH, and 70 ETH.

Matt Hougan, investment director at crypto asset management company Bitwise, made noteworthy assessments regarding Bitcoin’s long-term potential in the context of geopolitical tensions.

Hougan stated that if Bitcoin becomes both a store of value and a globally used currency, its potential market capitalization could surpass that of the gold market.

Hougan pointed out that Bitcoin is currently at around $1.4 trillion, compared to the gold market, which is worth approximately $33.7 trillion.
