Crypto PAC's $5.5 million Congress pick gets Maryland win, more crypto allies advanceThe leading crypto political action committee, Fairshake, often backs its favored hopefuls for the U.S. House of Representatives with ad campaigns in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, but it devoted Senate-level money — some $5.5 million — to Adrian Boafo, a Democrat who just won his party's nomination for a Maryland seat on Tuesday.

The state delegate's dominant victory records another success for the industry's super PAC and its affiliates after having notched a big primary election win with its $12 million devoted to Barry Moore's Alabama Senate bid last week.

Boafo's campaign website says he's looking to "provide responsible regulatory clarity for innovators building the next generation of financial tools," though it also included consumer-protection language often associated with crypto-resistance Democrats. Still, he has a record of pro-crypto legislative efforts in his state and favorably completed advocacy group Stand With Crypto's political questionnaire to earn that group's "A" rating.

The industry's support didn't go unnoticed. The open seat drew a massive number of Democratic candidates to replace outgoing Rep. Steny Hoyer, and Maryland's U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen bashed the "obscene amount of big special-interest money" Boafo received in the race.

In the same state, Fairshake backed incumbent Representative April McClain Delaney for $516,000, while also contributing ad spending in other states' Tuesday primaries to Republican incumbent Representative Blake Moore in Utah and $1.3 million for one of the industry's most reliable allies in the House, Representative Ritchie Torres, a New York Democrat. All of them also won their races or were winning, with McClain Delaney in an early lead with votes still being counted.

Prediction market platform Kalshi has expanded its list of restricted jurisdictions by adding India, reflecting growing regulatory pressure on online prediction markets around the world. According to an updated members' agreement, residents of India are now prohibited from accessing the platform, bringing the total number of restricted jurisdictions to 55.

The move follows increasing scrutiny from Indian regulators. Earlier this year, India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology reportedly warned VPN providers against facilitating access to blocked prediction market and online betting platforms. Authorities have expressed concerns regarding compliance, consumer protection, and the legal status of such services within the country.

India is not alone in tightening restrictions. Several countries, including Spain, Indonesia, Singapore, Poland, Portugal, Hungary, Ukraine, and Brazil, have also taken action against prediction market platforms such as Kalshi and Polymarket. Regulators in these jurisdictions argue that many prediction contracts resemble gambling products and may fall under existing betting laws.

Political and sports-related contracts have become a major focus of regulatory attention. Governments are increasingly concerned about potential market manipulation, insider information risks, and the growing overlap between prediction markets and traditional sports betting industries.

Despite regulatory challenges, prediction markets continue to attract significant user activity. Kalshi and Polymarket remain among the largest platforms in the sector, processing billions of dollars in weekly trading volume. Sports-related contracts continue to dominate trading activity, highlighting strong demand from users seeking alternative ways to speculate on real-world

CryptoQuant Warns Strategy: “Stop Bitcoin Purchases and Strengthen Cash Reserves” Here’s Why

On-chain data and market analysis company CryptoQuant argued that Strategy, led by Michael Saylor, should temporarily pause its Bitcoin purchases and focus on replenishing its dwindling cash reserves. A report published by the company’s research director, Julio Moreno, stated that increasing dividend obligations, a declining cash position, and growing unrealized Bitcoin losses pose risks for investors.

According to the report, Strategy’s preferred stock, STRC, fell to $82.50 last week, dropping 17.5 percent below its nominal value of $100. Moreno stated that this decline was due to the bear market pressure on Bitcoin coupled with a sharp drop in the company’s cash reserves.

The analysis highlighted that Strategy recently repurchased $1.5 billion worth of its 2029-maturity, zero-interest convertible bonds, reducing its cash buffer that could be used to support dividend payments. It noted that the company’s cash reserves have declined by approximately 38 percent since the beginning of 2026.

eyes crypto perpetuals as Kalshi upends futures marketCBOE has begun evaluating a conversion of its Bitcoin and Ether futures into perpetual contracts after crypto perpetuals generated more than $8.5 billion in trading volume on Kalshi within weeks of launch.

According to a June 23 report from The Wall Street Journal, CBOE Global Markets is considering turning its continuous Bitcoin and Ether futures into perpetual futures following recent regulatory developments in the United States.

The report cited Rob Hocking, CBOE's global head of derivatives, who said the exchange is exploring the possibility after the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission approved cryptocurrency perpetual futures for prediction market operator Kalshi.

While Hocking did not provide a timeline for any changes, the comments place one of the largest U.S. exchange operators among a growing list of firms responding to fresh competition in the perpetual futures market.

CBOE introduced its continuous Bitcoin and Ether futures contracts in December, offering products with expirations extending as far as 10 years.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the exchange is now studying whether perpetual contracts could provide an alternative structure following the CFTC's decision to permit similar products on regulated U.S. venues.
