Secret Network bridge exploited for $4.7M with ‘infinite mint’ bug
An attacker has used an “infinite mint” bug in a vulnerable smart contract on the Secret Network to create unbacked, wrapped versions of Axelar-wrapped assets, resulting in a $4.67 million exploit.

The exploit happened on June 10 but was discovered a week later on June 17, after a failed cross-chain transaction caused by an “insufficient funds” error in the drained account was detected, blockchain research firm Common Prefix reported on Friday.

The attacker redeemed the Axelar-wrapped assets (saTokens) back over legitimate channels to drain the real Axelar-wrapped assets held in escrow because the smart contract did not verify the source of the inbound transfer before minting, so “deposits forged over an attacker-controlled channel minted genuine saTokens with no assets backing them,” Common Prefix said.

It is the latest in a series of crypto protocol hacks and exploits this month, which now number at least 22, according to DeFiLlama. The Secret Network was one of the largest, behind the Humanity Protocol and Syscoin Bridge, which lost $32 million and $8 million, respectively, earlier this month.

The Secret Network is a privacy-focused, layer-1 blockchain built on the Cosmos ecosystem, and Axelar is a decentralized interoperability network that connects different blockchain ecosystems.

The Axelar-wrapped assets minted without backing in the exploit included saUSDT, saUSDC, saDAI, saWETH, saWBTC, saWBNB and sawstETH.

The attacker moved the exploited assets to the Ethereum blockchain and converted them to Ether (ETH). They then split the haul between around 30 wallets, eventually depositing the funds into exchanges including KuCoin, ChangeNow, and HitBTC, according to Common Prefix.

“If you hold Axelar-bridged saXXX tokens on Secret, please be aware their backing was affected, and your funds may be lost,” the Secret Network said on Saturday.

Given Saylor's past posts, Strategy is known to typically announce new Bitcoin purchases the day after such posts. Therefore, the latest post has been interpreted as a sign that the company may announce a new $BTC purchase soon.

According to the data, Strategy's Bitcoin reserve value currently stands at $54.26 billion. The company's total Bitcoin holdings are recorded as 846,842 $BTC, with an average Bitcoin cost of $75,658. Based on current data, the company's Bitcoin position is approximately 15.30% in the red, representing a negative difference of approximately $9.81 billion.

Strategy's transaction history includes a total of 113 transactions, with the company's total cost for Bitcoin purchases reported as $64.07 billion. According to the latest transaction records, Strategy purchased 1,587 $BTC on June 15, 2026. The average price for this purchase was $63,024, while the total transaction volume was approximately $100.02

million.

South Korea’s 60% export surge is pulling billions from cryptoPreliminary data released Monday showed South Korea’s exports climbed 60.4% from a year earlier for the first 20 days of June. So far, adjusted exports surged nearly 50%, almost matching May’s hot pace of 52.6%.

The surge, driven largely by artificial intelligence (AI) demand, has not only elevated the country’s trade surplus but is also increasingly drawing investor money away from risk assets like cryptocurrencies.

Recent trade data shows South Korea’s exports climbing at some of the fastest rates in modern history. The nation’s exports have totaled $62 billion, up from $38.6 billion in the same period of 2025, according to customs data.

At the center of this export explosion is South Korea’s semiconductor industry. Memory-chip exports have surged on the back of global AI infrastructure spending, with major producers like Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix benefiting from record global demand.

The latest findings in South Korea also show imports reaching $44.5 billion (up 23.2%), yielding a trade surplus of $17 billion.

What do South Korean authorities think of the semiconductor boom?
Strong global spending on AI and data centers is keeping export demand high. This data shows once again that chip sales are anchoring South Korea’s growth and balancing out weaker sectors.

Semiconductor shipments outperformed all other sectors, rising 188.4% year over year. South Korea earned up to $25.5 billion from just chips. Computer product exports surged 293.3%, while oil shipments were lifted by high energy markets.

Ethereum validators asked to fund projects with up to 10% of staking rewards under new proposal


Ethereum’s long-running funding debate has a new proposal: Make validators, who secure the world's leading smart contract blockchain, pay for more of the network’s shared costs.

The proposal on Ethereum's research forum introduced “validator redirected revenue,” a protocol-level mechanism that would let network operators to send part of their staking rewards to ecosystem funding. The redirect rate could range from 0% to 10% of staking rewards.

Validators would signal how much of their rewards they are willing to redirect. If a majority supports a rate above zero, the contribution would become mandatory for all validators.

That is the proposal’s purported answer to Ethereum’s "free-rider" problem, in which many projects benefit from shared infrastructure, security work, research, tooling and public goods.

But no single actor wants to pay the full bill when everyone else can benefit for free. The result is underfunding unless the Ethereum Foundation, donors or a small group of motivated teams steps in.

Validators are entities that keep Ethereum running by locking up ether ($ETH), checking transactions and earning staking rewards for doing so. Funding, in this context, means paying for the shared work Ethereum relies on, such as developer tools, security research, public infrastructure and other projects that help the network but do not always have a direct business model.

The proposal seeks to shift that burden toward validators, who earn $ETH rewards for securing the network and benefit when Ethereum becomes more valuable.

It argued that validators are natural long-term stakeholders because better ecosystem funding can increase network activity, $ETH burn and the value of staked
