BlockBeats News, June 20th, Andre Cronje released a statement regarding his resignation from the Sonic Labs (formerly Fantom) board, confirming Sonic Labs' previous announcement. The statement was released because some reports and comments had confused his technical role with the responsibility boundaries between Fantom or Sonic Labs' overall business, tokens, migration, and operational decisions. He stated that Fantom and the original Fantom project already existed before his involvement, and he began as a technical advisor in 2018, only being appointed as a Fantom director on December 13, 2022.Andre Cronje stated that he is not the founder of the Fantom company or the original token project but rather the original technical architect of the Fantom executable network, later serving as a Fantom director and Chief Technology Officer of Sonic Labs. He mentioned that he informally used the term "co-founder" to describe his foundational technical role, which is not accurate as it confuses the company's establishment with the technical creation. His primary responsibilities included technical work such as protocol research, architecture, engineering, developer infrastructure, and the design and development of the Sonic network, especially the Sonic Gateway.He also emphasized that he did not design, lead, or execute the FTM to S migration, was not involved in designing or managing the Sonic airdrop, and was not the decision-maker for Sonic's tokenomics, token distribution, emissions, or incentive structure. He further stated that he does not support halting the Ethereum ERC-20 version of FTM or shutting down the Opera network; his position is that both should continue to be supported. Upon the completion of the transition, he will no longer be involved in Sonic Labs' business decisions. Over the past 18 months, his main focus has been on the Flying Tulip project and he will continue this work.
