Ripple, JPMorgan settle first cross-border tokenized Treasury redemption on XRP Ledger
A key piece of financial infrastructure stitching tokenized assets to traditional banking got a real cross-border test this week.

Ondo Finance said Wednesday it had completed the first near-real-time cross-border redemption of a tokenized U.S. Treasury fund alongside JPMorgan's blockchain platform Kinexys, payments giant Mastercard, and Ripple.

The transaction settled in under five seconds on the $XRP Ledger and involved OUSG, Ondo's tokenized U.S. Treasury fund built for accredited investors and qualified purchasers.

The pipeline started with Ondo processing the redemption on the $XRP Ledger, after which Mastercard's Multi-Token Network routed the instructions to Kinexys, and JPMorgan delivered the U.S. dollars to Ripple's Singapore bank account.

The whole sequence happened outside traditional banking windows, the kind of cross-border settlement that typically takes one to three business days through correspondent banks.
"By connecting public blockchain infrastructure with interbank settlement rails, Ondo, Kinexys by JPMorgan, Mastercard, and Ripple are laying the groundwork for 24/7 global markets that never close," said Ondo President Ian De Bode in a statement.

Markus Infanger, senior VP at RippleX, said the transaction shows institutions can run cross-border tokenized asset moves as a single integrated flow rather than stitching them together through legacy systems.

The pilot lands as the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) said earlier this week it would launch its own tokenization service later this year. JPMorgan's Kinexys platform has now processed over $3 trillion in cumulative transactions, with tokenized deposit volumes across major banks moving to billions of dollars over the past year.

The partnership would be a natural move for both companies, says Nischay Upadhyayula, Tempo’s representative. He pointed out that MPP integration into the RedotPay app enables AI agents to process transactions for millions of users marking an advancing shift toward self reliant monetary frameworks.

Agentic payments are more convenient and streamlined for consumers. Users can rely on AI agents to manage tasks such as product discovery, price comparison and final payment execution. This decreases the friction and also conserves time, making daily shopping more effective.

The letter draws a sharp line between derivatives markets and sports betting. The states said prediction market users can wager on game winners, point spreads, totals, and individual player statistics, closely matching sportsbook activity. The letter states:

“Traditional sports bets and sports-related event contracts offered on designated contract markets (‘DCMs’) have no meaningful differences.”

The coalition argued that a new label does not change the underlying transaction. Bettors still risk money on uncertain sports outcomes for possible payouts.

Expected Vote on Donald Trump’s Altcoin, World Liberty Financial (WLFI), Passed by an Overwhelming Majority
A governance proposal to unlock 62.2 billion $WLFI tokens, submitted by World Liberty Financial, a decentralized finance (DeFi) project linked to the Donald Trump family, was overwhelmingly approved by the community.

In the vote, “yes” votes reached 99.9% with 11.2 billion $WLFI, while “no” votes were only 11.2 million $WLFI. Thus, the proposal was approved, exceeding the required 1 billion $WLFI by approximately 11 times.

The offer, which began on April 29 and ended today, included a total of 62.28 billion $WLFI tokens in a restructured vesting scheme. Of this, 17.04 billion $WLFI consists of tokens locked by early backers, while 45.23 billion $WLFI comprises tokens belonging to the founding team, advisors, and business partners.

Ethena Jumps 4% After Grayscale Adds It to DeFi Fund in Q1 Rebalancing

Grayscale Investments reshuffled its crypto portfolios this week as part of its Q1 2026 fund rebalancing. The firm removed Aerodrome Finance from its DeFi Fund and replaced it with Ethena, a yield-focused decentralized finance protocol.

Ethena rose 4.33% in the last 24 hours following the announcement. Grayscale also made adjustments to its Smart Contract Fund, though no new assets were added to that portfolio.

Ethena Replaces Aerodrome

The biggest change came in Grayscale’s DeFi Fund. Following the CoinDesk DeFi Select Index methodology, the firm sold AERO and portions of other existing holdings to purchase $ENA.

As of May 1, 2026, the fund holdings stood at:

Uniswap (UNI) – 35.22%

Aave (AAVE) – 21.36%

Ondo (ONDO) – 19.83%

Ethena ($ENA) – 13.59%

Curve (CRV) – 5.27%

Lido DAO (LDO) – 4.73%

Smart Contract Fund Stays Focused on Layer 1s

Grayscale also adjusted the weightings of its Smart Contract Fund using the CoinDesk Smart Contract Platform Select Capped Index methodology. Unlike the DeFi Fund, no assets were removed or added.

The updated allocations are:

Ethereum (ETH) – 30.14%

Solana (SOL) – 29.69%

Cardano (ADA) – 17.96%

Avalanche (AVAX) – 7.69%

Hedera (HBAR) – 7.41%

Sui (SUI) – 7.11%

The allocation shows Grayscale still heavily favors established smart contract ecosystems led by Ethereum and Solana.

What This Signals for the Market

These updates give a simple look into where institutional investors believe crypto is heading. Grayscale appears to be betting more on DeFi projects connected to stablecoins, yield, and tokenized assets rather than only trading platforms.

At the same time, the company is still keeping strong exposure to big blockchain ecosystems like Ethereum and Solana, which continue to dominate developer activity and liquidity in crypto markets.
