In November, Rodriguez and fellow Samourai Wallet co-founder William Lonergan Hill received prison sentences of five and four years, respectively, after prosecutors pursued charges linked to the operation of the privacy-focused crypto mixer. U.S. authorities had accused the pair of conspiracy to commit money laundering and conspiracy to operate an unlicensed money transmitting business. Federal prosecutors first charged Rodriguez and Hill in April 2024. Court records later showed both men initially pleaded not guilty before agreeing in July 2025 to plead guilty to operating an illegal money transmitting business. Cryptoquant, an on-chain and market data analytics firm, shared analysis on X on May 7, outlining the price levels bitcoin may need to reclaim before traders can confirm a market bottom. $BTC traded near $80,874 while remaining below several realized price bands tied to underwater holder groups. The analysis focused on how those resistance levels could determine whether recent recovery attempts develop into a sustained reversal.

The chart in the analysis mapped Bitcoin UTXO age bands against realized price levels for different holder cohorts. It identified the 3-month to 6-month realized price near $88,879 as the first line of overhead supply above spot price. Another resistance wall appeared near $93,446 for the 12-month to 18-month cohort. The heaviest concentration came from the 6-month to 12-month band near $111,851, which remained roughly 29% above $BTC spot price at the time of the study. The analysis stated:

“Every one of these levels is a break-even exit point for a different wave of trapped buyers.”

UTXO age bands track bitcoin supply based on how long coins have remained unmoved since their last transaction. The chart separated holder groups into time-based cohorts, allowing the study to identify where different groups of underwater investors may begin

XRP News Today: JPMorgan, Mastercard and Ondo Complete a Historic First

Four of the biggest names in global finance just completed a transaction that the industry has been working toward for years. Ondo, Kinexys by JPMorgan, Mastercard, and Ripple successfully executed a pilot transaction connecting the XRP Ledger directly with interbank settlement rails.

The result was the first time tokenized US Treasuries settled across borders and between banks in near real time, outside traditional banking windows.

How It Worked

The transaction moved through three distinct steps. Ondo processed a redemption of OUSG, its tokenized US Treasury product, on the XRP Ledger. Mastercard’s Multi-Token Network then routed the settlement instructions to Kinexys, JPMorgan’s blockchain-based payment platform. JPMorgan then delivered US dollars directly to Ripple’s Singapore bank account.

Start to finish, a tokenized asset moved from a public blockchain through global banking infrastructure and landed as real money in a real bank account, in real time.

Why It’s Important

Cross-border settlements today are slow, expensive, and bound by banking hours and time zones. This pilot demonstrated that those constraints are not inevitable. A public blockchain and traditional banking infrastructure can work together in a single integrated flow without one replacing the other.

Tokenized assets have long been described as the future of finance. This transaction suggested that future is closer than most expected. For the first time, a tokenized fund did not just exist on a blockchain. It settled across borders, across institutions, and across time zones as part of a live transaction.

The broader implication is significant. Global financial markets currently close. The infrastructure tested in this pilot is designed to make sure they never have to.
