Flare’s native token $FLR is gaining strong momentum ahead of a critical governance vote that could significantly reshape the network’s economic structure.
This week, Flare introduced a new governance proposal aimed at overhauling its protocol architecture, establishing a protocol-level revenue system, and reducing token inflation. The voting period is set between April 16 and April 24, and market activity has picked up as investors position ahead of the decision.
FLR has risen roughly 10.2% over the past week, trading around $0.0082, reflecting growing expectations around potential structural changes to the network’s tokenomics.
At the core of the proposal is a redesign of Flare’s value capture and MEV (Maximal Extractable Value) system. Instead of allowing external actors to extract MEV, the network aims to internalize this revenue and redirect it back into the ecosystem, creating a more protocol-aligned economic model.
The upgrade would unfold in three stages:
First, block production would shift from individual validators to a designated builder operated by the Flare Entity to improve stability.
Second, Flare Confidential Compute would be introduced, balancing transaction privacy with auditability.
Finally, proposer and builder roles would be merged, with validators focusing primarily on verification.
A major component of the proposal is the creation of FIRE (Flare Income Reinvestment Entity), which would aggregate protocol revenue and allocate it toward token burns and buybacks, linking network usage directly to supply reduction.
The plan also targets a reduction in annual inflation from 5% to 3%, along with lowering the yearly issuance cap from 5 billion to 3 billion FLR. Additionally, base gas fees would increase significantly, potentially accelerating burn activity from an estimated 7.5 million FLR to as much as 300 million FLR annually, depending on network usage.

Wall Street banking giant UBS forecasts further Fed rate cuts later this year. This comes as Fed Governor Stephen Miran claims the US-Iran war and tariffs will not have long-term impacts on inflation, but expects three rate cuts instead of four in 2026.
Bitcoin and gold will rise further if the Federal Reserve proceeds with more rate cuts this year. The broader crypto market will follow, with the S&P 500 hitting new highs.
The U.S. Federal Reserve would deliver 50 bps rate cuts later this year, UBS reported in the latest insights. Economists at the bank, including those in Global Wealth Management, project two 25 bps reductions potentially in September and December.

This would bring the federal funds rate to roughly 3.00-3.25% by 2026-end. The CME FedWatch Tool shows traders currently expect no rate cuts by the Federal Reserve this year.

This forecast assumes Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s downplaying of monetary policy tightening and inflation remaining under control despite rising oil prices. US CPI and PPI inflation data showed readings coming in line or under with Wall Street estimates.

UBS expects Treasury yields to fall toward its year-end targets of 3.25% and 3.75% for 2-year and 10-year Treasuries, respectively.
If oil supply from the Strait of Hormuz starts to normalize, the bank giant sees treasury yields falling as investors scale back their expectations for rate hikes. However, if the disruption continues for a prolonged period, Fed rate cuts should drive yields lower.
