Shares in Amazon (AMZN) are up on Tuesday as the Magnificent-7 stock has reportedly agreed to acquire satellite company Globalstar (GSAT). The latter’s stock is also up following the news, as Amazon looks to challenge SpaceX’s (SPAX.PVT) Starlink directly. Per a press release, Amazon has ambitions to deploy 3,200 satellites ​in the next three years and launch its own internet service.The deal is designed to turbocharge Amazon’s Project Kuiper satellite broadband initiative. Presently, tech companies are pouring billions of ‌dollars into capturing the lucrative market for satellite-based connectivity, but it will be a tall order to match Starlink’s 10,000-unit-strong network. Through the deal, Amazon adds Globalstar’s two dozen satellites to its existing network of more than 200.Globalstar’s satellite network is designed for reliable, low-data connections ​directly to mobile devices, or Direct-to-Device (D2D). The deal will help Amazon deploy D2D from 2028, the companies said. Furthermore, Amazon had already signaled aggressive infrastructure ambitions, with $200 billion in capex planned for 2026, primarily AI-related. Folding Globalstar’s assets into that spending plan accelerates the Kuiper roadmap considerably.For Globalstar (GSAT), the stock has also seen a 273% gain over the past year, making today’s 10% climb feel less like a surprise and more like a confirmation of what the market has been pricing in for months. The acquisition validates Globalstar’s spectrum and satellite assets at a premium that investors had long suspected was coming. As for Amazon, the stock is on an upward climb after struggling to start the year, now up 9% YTD after its 4.8% rally Tuesday.

Ethereum treasury firm Bitmine reports $3.8 billion Q1 loss in latest filing

Bitmine Immersion Technologies has turned itself into the Ethereum version of Strategy, doubling its outstanding shares in six months and raising over $10 billion in equity to amass nearly 5% of all ether in existence.

it reported a $3.8 billion quarterly net loss in Tuesday's 10-Q filing, with share count going from 232 million to 494 million between August 31 and February 28.

Additional paid-in capital jumped from $8.36 billion to $18.55 billion over the same period, and those funds went straight into $ETH.

As of April 12, Bitmine held 4.87 million ether at an average cost of $2,206 per token, making it the largest corporate Ethereum treasury globally and the second-largest corporate crypto treasury behind Strategy.

The bet is underwater but not by much. Ether traded near $2,325 on Wednesday, roughly 5% above Bitmine's average entry. The $3.78 billion in unrealized losses on the quarter's income statement reflects the drawdown from the token's August 2025 highs near $4,900, not a loss from its cost basis.

Under fair-value accounting rules adopted in 2024, those mark-to-market swings flow through the P&L regardless of whether the company has sold anything.

But the transformation from mining company to leveraged $ETH treasury play is creating its own set of pressures.

Self-mining revenue collapsed 86% year-over-year to $219,000 for the quarter. Staking has replaced it entirely, generating $10.2 million of the company's $11 million in total quarterly revenue.

General and administrative expenses hit $75 million for the quarter, up from $964,000 a year earlier. For the full six-month period, G&A reached $298.6 million against just $13.3 million in revenue. A new class of crypto treasury companies is emerging around Strategy’s high-yield stock, STRC, drawing in firms looking to capture both exposure to bitcoin and additional income.

STRC is a security issued by Strategy, the largest publicly traded holder of bitcoin, as a funding vehicle to support its ongoing bitcoin accumulation strategy. The company raises capital by offering investors an annualized dividend of 11.5%, paid monthly in cash, with proceeds primarily used to purchase BTC.

Such is the stock’s popularity that it registered a record-breaking trading volume on Tuesday, with more than $1.6 billion in shares changing hands.

STRC, the new base layer

As trading volumes surge, a growing number of companies and decentralized finance protocols are accumulating STRC to capture its yield while gaining indirect exposure to bitcoin.

STRC is now being used as a base layer for new financial products that add leverage, tokenization and structured yield.

Saturn Credit, a bitcoin-backed yield platform, accumulated $15 million in STRC within six days of launch. Apyx, an onchain credit protocol, has built a position of 800,000 shares after purchasing an additional 200,000 STRC, with plans to become one of the largest holders.

BitStrategy is taking a similar approach. Co-founder and Head of US Ryan McGinnis said the firm aims to accumulate Strategy securities, with the long-term goal of becoming the world's largest Strategy shareholder.

On-chain, nearly $200 million in tokenized STRC now exists on Ethereum, with close to $100 million trading on Pendle. Pendle is a decentralized finance platform that allows users to trade and separate yield from underlying assets, creating markets for future income streams.

A crypto scam posing as the official Ledger Live hardware wallet app passed Apple's App Store review process and drained at least $9.5 million from more than 50 victims across Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Tron, and XRP between April 7 and April 13, with stolen funds routed through more than 150 KuCoin deposit addresses and into a centralized mixing service. Equipping to Future Threats

Today, the majority of blockchains are based on cryptographic algorithms, such as Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm. Although these systems are safe nowadays, they may be broken by the advanced quantum computers in the future. To deal with this, TRON will embrace standards that are in accordance with the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
