He steps down later this year after Marc Armengol takes over as CEO, but the Qivalis commitment continues under new leadership.

The US-based cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is facing a lawsuit related to approximately $55 million worth of stolen funds. The lawsuit centers on a demand to freeze DAI-denominated assets and recover those funds.

According to court documents, the funds in question were allegedly obtained through a cyberattack and then laundered via Tornado Cash to conceal their whereabouts. The hacker allegedly then transferred some of the funds to an account on Coinbase, which subsequently identified and froze the assets.
The plaintiff claims to be the rightful owner of the assets in question and demands their return. The lawsuit also names an unidentified individual, believed to be the perpetrator of the attack, as a defendant.
Coinbase confirmed that the funds are held on their platform but emphasized that a formal court order is required for their release. This approach by the company has once again brought to the forefront uncertainties surrounding the ownership and legal processes of crypto assets.

Shares of stablecoin issuer Circle (CRCL) jumped nearly 20 percent on May 4, just days after U.S. Sens. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., and Angela Alsobrooks, D-Md., reached a compromise on the wording around stablecoin rewards in the CLARITY Act. Market data show that CRCL, which closed Friday at around $100, ended Monday trading at $119.53, a 19.89 percent increase.The rally continued into overnight trading, with the stock adding another $6.18—a gain of 5.21 percent—to reach $125.83. Before Monday’s surge, the stock had climbed from $91.27 amid optimism that the Senate would reach a bipartisan agreement on the wording. While the stock remains significantly below its March 18 peak of $132.84, the surge brought Circle’s year-to-date gains to just over 50 percent.As widely reported, the agreement reached by Tillis and Alsobrooks introduces a broad prohibition on offering stablecoin rewards in a way that is “economically or functionally equivalent” to interest paid on traditional bank deposits. The provision is intended to draw a clearer line between cryptocurrency products and regulated banking services.

The agreed-upon text reportedly directs federal regulators to develop a new disclosure regime for stablecoins and create a specific list of “permissible reward activities.” While the compromise is viewed as a major step forward,
banking industry lobby groups, which have opposed provisions allowing yield on stablecoin holdings, issued a statement asserting the fix falls short.

Technical outlook: XRP targets the $1.51 resistance 
The XRP/USD 4-hour chart remains bearish and efficient as Ripple is trading at $1.42 per coin.

It has surged past the 50-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) at $1.41 but remains well below 100-day and 200-day EMAs at $1.51 and $1.74, respectively.

The momentum indicators suggest that the bulls could push XRP’s price higher in the near term. 

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) at 69 on the 4-hour chart leans extremely positive, suggesting a decisive bullish impulse.

At the same time, the negative but contracting Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) histogram on the same chart hints that downside momentum is fading rather than reversing.

If the rally persists, XRP would encounter immediate resistance at the 100-day EMA at $1.51.

The buyers would likely convert the 50-day EMA at $1.41 into a strong support level if the price action remains bullish. 

A daily close above that zone would be needed to ease the prevailing bearish tone and open the way toward the 200-day EMA at $1.74.However, if the bears regain control of the market and close the daily candle below $1.39, XRP could retest the monthly open price at $1.37 in the near term.

While the market conditions remain bullish, some traders are cautious that the recent rally could be a bull trap.
