Michael Saylor’s reputation for buying Bitcoin near local highs is less a timing flaw than a function of how the treasury model works, according to Metaplanet Director of Bitcoin Strategy Dylan LeClair. In an interview, LeClair argued that the apparent pattern reflects when capital markets are most open, not a deliberate effort to chase peaks.

Why Saylor Keeps Buying The Bitcoin Top
LeClair said the criticism misunderstands the mechanics behind Strategy’s buying. “The Bitcoin treasury model is very pro-cyclical,” he said. “So when times are good, generally over a four-year market or minute to minute, it’s easiest to raise capital. And so the capital markets are wide open when Bitcoin’s strong for common equity. But when it’s weak, they’re not.”

That dynamic, he said, helps explain why Strategy’s purchases often arrive when Bitcoin is already trading strongly. If the company’s stock is performing well and its enterprise value is rich relative to its Bitcoin holdings, it becomes easier and more attractive to issue equity and convert that capital into more BTC. “When we sell stock, we buy literally minute to minute,” LeClair said, referring to Saylor’s own description of the process. “So when a weekly purchase comes out, people are like, well, Strategy bought the range high again. Well, it’s like, no, the causality is reversed.”

In LeClair’s telling, Strategy is not buying strength because it wants to pay up. It is buying when its financing window is strongest. That distinction matters, especially for listed Bitcoin treasury companies whose capital-raising ability is tightly linked to sentiment, equity multiples, and market liquidity.

A crypto developer was convicted last year for running an unlicensed money-transmitting business. That case — and others like it — is now driving one of the sharpest disagreements in Washington over how the US plans to regulate decentralized finance.

The Conviction That Changed The Conversation
Roman Storm, co-founder of the cryptocurrency mixing platform Tornado Cash, was found guilty in August 2025 of conspiracy charges tied to the operation of an unlicensed money-transmitting service.

His conviction sent a chill through the developer community. It also made the legal definitions buried inside pending crypto legislation feel a lot more urgent.

That backdrop is now shaping a public dispute between Senator Cynthia Lummis and prominent crypto attorney Jake Chervinsky over whether the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act — widely known as the CLARITY Act — actually protects the developers it claims to defend.

CLARITY Act: What Chervinsky Gets At
Chervinsky’s concern is specific. Title 3 of the current Senate Banking Committee draft, he argues, contains money transmitter language broad enough to pull non-custodial software developers into Bank Secrecy Act territory — meaning KYC obligations and the regulatory exposure that comes with them.

His position: that result would effectively hollow out the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act, which was written precisely to keep non-custodial builders out of that category.

Analysts predict that while a short-term slide toward key support levels is possible, a fast, sustained rebound in early April will be required to invalidate the current bearish trend and prevent further capitulation by new investors.

Aave V4 has officially rolled out on the Ethereum mainnet after over two years in development. 

"We're aiming for sort of a controlled launch," Aave Labs CEO Stani Kulechov told The Block in an interview. "That's how we always deployed the Aave v3, Aave v2 and v1, in a very controlled training wheels manner."

The latest iteration of Aave is a fundamental reshaping of the largest decentralized lending protocol. V4 introduces a new "Hub and Spoke" architecture that enables greater flexibility when spinning up new lending markets. 

Aave's hubs will act as concentrated sources of liquidity that different financial markets can tap into, while each spoke can maintain distinct risk parameters, independent borrowing environments, and governance-controlled features.

The more flexible platform is designed to support a growing range of real-world credit markets — including structured lending, fixed-rate borrowing, and tokenized asset-backed credit — at a time when Wall Street is finally beginning to express genuine interest in onchain finance. 

"The future of DeFi is that native assets and use cases will keep growing, and Aave is going to be a leader there," Kulechov said. "But also, Aave is going to be a pioneer in actually bringing DeFi liquidity and DeFi infrastructure to any sort of viable lending model."

Aave rolls out v4 on Ethereum, aiming to expand DeFi into real-world credit markets


Aave, one of the largest decentralized lending platforms, debuted its long-awaited v4 upgrade on Ethereum, aiming to push DeFi beyond crypto trading and into broader financial markets.

The upgrade has been in development for about two years and is designed to make it easier to use Aave for a wider range of lending and borrowing activities, including those tied to real-world assets.

The introduction follows months of internal debate over governance and value flow through the protocol. Disputes over interface fees, contributor roles and proposals to redirect product revenue to the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) have highlighted tensions between decentralization and coordination, even as the work progressed.

At a basic level, v4 changes how Aave organizes its markets. Instead of grouping everything together, the new system allows different types of lending markets to operate separately while still sharing the same pool of funds.

That means users could eventually borrow and lend against more than just crypto tokens.

For Aave Labs founder Stani Kulechov, the shift reflects a broader change in how decentralized finance is evolving. “Lending is based on trust… you need lending conditions that reflect market conditions,” he said in an interview with CoinDesk.

The upgrade is designed to better handle that complexity. By separating different market types while sharing liquidity, Aave aims to support everything from traditional crypto lending to more complex situations like institutional borrowing and real-world assets.

It also opens the door for others to build on top of the protocol more easily.

“It also means that other teams can come and build and expand that infrastructure,” Kulechov said.

This is in relation to the 200-week exponential moving average (EMA), a pivotal technical indicator that now acts as a dynamic resistance level. For context, $XRP recently lost the 200W EMA, putting it in the same position as it was during the downturn in May 2022. From here, the price could slip further to hit the current bear market’s bottom.

Key Points

$XRP recorded another round of declines after it hit a peak of $1.6 on March 17, collapsing to the current price of $1.4.

The latest downturn has now pushed the price below the 200-week exponential moving average.

This recent price action now places $XRP at the same position it was in May 2022, right after it lost the support at the 200W EMA.

From here, $XRP could suffer steeper declines to reach a bottom before the price can start seeing rebound efforts.

Data surrounding the Gaussian Channel suggests the bottom could come in at the $0.7 to $0.8 price range.

The Latest Round of Declines

This comes from an analysis shared by market watcher Chart Nerd, as $XRP struggles to maintain the gains it picked up during the rally earlier this month. For context, after collapsing to a local floor of $1.27 following the escalation of the Israel-Iran conflict on Feb. 28, $XRP and the broader crypto market recovered.

The $XRP price first rebounded to a high of $1.47 on March 4 before pulling back to $1.32 after four days. Shortly after this, another recovery effort ensued, allowing $XRP to rally to the $1.6 peak on March 17. However, the resistance at this mark halted the uptrend, leading to declines that have persisted until now.
