$XRP price slipped from highs near $1.50 and traded around $1.46 as geopolitical tension weighed on crypto markets. The pullback followed weaker risk sentiment after recent bullish momentum failed to clear major nearby resistance levels.

The decline came after Donald Trump rejected Iran’s response to a U.S. peace proposal. Reuters reported that Trump called the response unacceptable, adding pressure to global markets and energy sentiment.

In an X post, analyst ChartNerd said $XRP could still secure a daily breakout. However, he added that the weekly chart shows major macro resistance above current levels. His view suggests the move may still be a countertrend rally.

ChartNerd pointed to the weekly 20 EMA and 50 EMA as key resistance levels. He said both were lost and later confirmed as resistance in January 2026. That structure created a death cross before the earlier drop from $2.40 to $1.11.

The analyst said a macro bullish reversal would need both EMAs reclaimed as support. He listed the weekly 20 EMA at $1.58 and the weekly 50 EMA at $1.85. Until then, he said the market should respect the current resistance setup.

ChartNerd also highlighted a possible $1.80 point of contact before a deeper decline. He placed the lower targets near $0.90 and $0.70 if resistance remains firm. The downside view would weaken only if $XRP reclaims those weekly EMAs.

Institutional flows showed a stronger picture than the short-term chart. According to CoinShares, $XRP-related digital investment products attracted 39.6 million in inflows. Bitcoin’s rally stalled in the $80,000–$82,000 range, where it has largely traded since last Wednesday. While fund flows continue to point toward an eventual breakout, macro risks, particularly inflation, suggest caution.

The U.S. is scheduled to report its consumer price index (CPI) for April at 8:30 a.m. ET. According to FactSet, the median estimate is 3.7%, up from 3.3% in March. If that proves correct, it would mark the largest increase in the CPI since January 2024 and be well above the trailing 12-month average of 2.7%.

Analysts are worried that such a reading, especially against the backdrop of what President Donald Trump described as an “unbelievably weak” U.S.-Iran ceasefire and still-elevated oil prices, could trigger risk aversion, potentially weighing on asset prices.

"Markets are entering a highly sensitive period where geopolitics, inflation risks and central bank expectations are colliding," said Lukman Otunuga, head of market research at global trading broker FXTM. "The combination of elevated oil prices, uncertainty around the Iran conflict, and critical U.S. economic data could drive heightened volatility across commodities, currencies and global equities in the days ahead."

Still, the reaction could also depend on the core CPI print, which excludes the volatile food and energy component. The core reading is forecast to have increased to 2.7% year-on-year from 2.6% in March.

It's also possible that higher inflation is already priced in, which may be why the rally stalled in the first place.

Beyond inflation, another key development is $XRP and Solana’s ($SOL) proximity to major supply zones. $XRP briefly tested $1.50 today, a price where breakouts have repeatedly proved short-lived since February. The same applies to

Investor Michael Burry, made famous in The Big Short for calling the 2008 housing collapse, warned in a Substack post that the Nasdaq 100 is trading at 43 times earnings, well above the implied level of around 30 times, and likened the current setup to "the scene of the bloody car crash, minutes before it happens."

Burry flagged the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index's 70% rally since the end of March as the centerpiece of what he called a parabolic surge in tech valuations, advising readers to take profits and reduce exposure to the AI trade.
Brent crude zoomed almost 1% to above $105 a barrel after President Donald Trump cast doubt on the ceasefire with Iran in remarks Monday, fueling concern that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz will be prolonged. The Treasury 10-year yield rose to 4.42% and the dollar strengthened against all its Group-of-10 peers on haven demand.

Equity markets across Asia pulled back from records. The Kospi slid as much as 5.1% intraday after a top South Korean policymaker proposed paying citizens a dividend funded by taxes on AI profits, with the comments fueling sharp swings as investors tried to parse the scope of the proposal.

The Fed gets a new Chair this week as Bitcoin tackles its biggest macro test of the year

Bitcoin macro test intensifies as the Fed transition, inflation data, and rate-cut expectations collide in 2026’s most important policy window.
This week (May 11-15) has a credible claim to being the most consequential macro window of 2026 so far, as it compresses every channel currently driving risk assets into a single sequence.

Inflation, producer costs, consumer demand, Fed liquidity, central bank leadership, trade risk, oil risk, and the dollar are all scheduled to move within five trading days.

Bitcoin price enters that window as a liquidity-sensitive institutional asset, making the calendar a direct test of whether the recovery above $80,000 has macro sponsorship or only positioning support.

The strongest rival week came earlier in the year, when the Iran conflict and the Strait of Hormuz shock pushed energy markets into the center of the inflation debate.

The St. Louis Fed's review of market reactions to military action against Iran marked Feb. 28, Mar. 1, and Apr. 13 as key shock points for oil, volatility, and geopolitical repricing.

That episode carried the larger single exogenous impulse. It changed the inflation path through energy, widened the risk premium in crude, and forced investors to reprice the Fed's tolerance for cutting into a supply shock.

The March inflation data then showed how that shock entered the official series. The March CPI report showed consumer prices rising 0.9% month over month and 3.3% year over year, with energy up 10.9% and gasoline up 21.2%. The March PPI report showed final demand prices rising 0.5% in March and 4.0% over the prior 12 months, the largest annual increase since February 2023.

Those prints gave 2026 a genuine inflation shock rather than a routine data scare.
