Amazon’s cloud unit said on Thursday it is working to restore normal temperature levels at its Northern Virginia data center, which has impacted trading on Coinbase and other websites.

“We are observing early signs of recovery. We continue to work towards restoring temperatures to normal levels and bring impacted racks back online in the affected Availability Zone (use1-az4) in the US-EAST-1 Region,” Amazon Web Services said in a status update on Friday at 5:11 am UTC.

The outage has notably impacted crypto exchange Coinbase, which said customers were experiencing “degraded performance.” FanDuel, an American gambling company, said it was also impacted.

The outage has led to some Coinbase customers being unable to transact on the web and mobile. Coinbase said its teams are working to restore functionality and that customer funds are safe.

“We will begin the process to re-enable trading on our markets shortly,” Coinbase said. “All markets would be placed in ‘Cancel Only’ mode before we move to re-enable trading.”

Fairshake itself is bankrolled by some of the biggest names in crypto, including Coinbase and Ripple Labs. The committee spent over $130 million trying to shape the outcome of the 2024 elections. MIAMI — Ripple’s stablecoin business is on track to receive a license from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), according to Jack McDonald, the company’s Senior Vice President of Stablecoins. McDonald made the announcement during a panel at Consensus 2026 in Miami, signaling a significant step forward for the firm’s regulatory strategy in the United States.

Regulatory Progress and Global Footprint

McDonald noted that the stablecoin division already holds a license from the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) and has secured approvals in several other international jurisdictions. The OCC license, if granted, would allow Ripple to operate its stablecoin business at the federal level, providing a unified regulatory framework across the U.S.

“We are already licensed in New York and multiple other jurisdictions around the world,” McDonald said. “The OCC license is the next logical step, and we expect to receive it soon.”
