Moscow Exchange eyes 24/7 crypto trading in push to rival foreign
Moscow Exchange (MOEX), Russia’s top stock exchange, is exploring the possibility of launching round-the-clock crypto trading as the platform moves deeper into digital assets, RBC Investments reported, citing brokerage industry sources.
According to the report, MOEX is holding discussions with brokers about how crypto trading should operate. The talks focused on operating hours, account structures, and deposit mechanics.
The exchange wants to run around the clock, every day of the week, matching the pace of global crypto venues.
MOEX is also exploring infrastructure for crypto-specific accounts and has reportedly begun testing crypto deposits and withdrawals with a limited number of brokers. One financial market source told RBC that its digital depository would likely mirror Russia’s National Settlement Depository, meaning users would not directly hold wallets on the exchange itself.
In a statement to reporters, Moscow Exchange said it is “actively developing solutions” for servicing the crypto market.

The launch increases the total number of crypto benchmarks on MOEX to six, complementing the platform’s existing Bitcoin and Ethereum indices. The exchange said it plans to eventually expand coverage to ten digital assets.

The indices are designed to lay the groundwork for future crypto-linked financial products. Futures tied to the benchmarks are expected to launch later in 2026 and will initially be limited to qualified investors under Russian financial regulations.

The expansion comes as Russia prepares to implement a new crypto regulatory framework that will permit digital asset transactions through licensed brokers and intermediaries.

XRP has gradually shifted into a stronger recovery structure after reclaiming important support zones earlier in May. The market continues forming higher lows on lower timeframes, suggesting buyers remain active during pullbacks.

Recent consolidation near the $1.45–$1.50 region reflects a compression phase where volatility has started tightening. Historically, this type of structure often leads to stronger directional movement once breakout momentum appears.

Selling pressure has also weakened compared to previous corrections, while dip-buying activity continues supporting the market above key levels.

In the medium term, XRP remains inside a broader stabilization and recovery phase after significant correction pressure earlier in 2026. The breakout above $1.40 improved overall market structure and shifted short-term sentiment back toward cautious optimism.

The total amount of Ethereum locked in staking contracts has reached approximately 39 million ETH — a figure that has increased sharply since the beginning of 2026 and represents the largest sustained commitment of ETH to the network’s validator infrastructure in the asset’s history. Nearly a third of Ethereum’s entire circulating supply is now locked in staking positions, held by participants who have made a deliberate, structural decision to commit their assets to the network rather than keep them available for immediate trading or sale.

The supply implication of that commitment is direct and consequential. Thirty-nine million ETH staked means thirty-nine million ETH that cannot be instantly sold. It means the liquid float available to the market — the ETH that can actually change hands in response to price movements — is significantly smaller than the total supply figures suggest.

That structural reduction in available supply is the foundation beneath Ethereum’s current consolidation. Understanding it fully requires examining what the staking data is also beginning to warn about.
