Shares of Strategy (previously known as Microstrategy) surged sharply on Friday, tracking a strong rally in Bitcoin that pushed the company’s massive cryptocurrency holdings back into profitable territory.

The stock climbed 16.25% to its intraday high, although it is trading 10% higher at the time of writing, extending a five-day rally that has put it on track for a weekly gain of more than 30%.

The move came as Bitcoin rose nearly 4% in the past 24 hours, briefly approaching $78,000 and trading above $77,400.

Bitcoin rally lifts Strategy’s holdings

The surge in Bitcoin prices has had a direct impact on Strategy’s balance sheet, given its large exposure to the digital asset. The company has accumulated more than 780,000 Bitcoin, with an average purchase price estimated at $75,580 according to data from BitcoinTreasuries.

Earlier this year, Bitcoin had fallen below Strategy’s average acquisition cost, placing its holdings under pressure. The latest rally has reversed that trend, pushing the company’s Bitcoin portfolio back into the green by about 3.14%, or roughly $1.8 billion in gains.

With Bitcoin now above its average cost basis, Strategy’s treasury strategy is once again delivering positive returns, reinforcing investor enthusiasm for the stock.

The company’s holdings are currently valued at approximately $56 billion, underscoring the scale of its bet on the cryptocurrency market.

USDT momentum grows as USDC dominance faces scrutiny



Stablecoins remain the key engine powering DeFi, making the FUD surrounding USDC particularly notable. 

Following the 2022 Terra collapse, when USDT depegged to $0.95, liquidity preferences began to shift. As a result, USDC gained momentum across DeFi rails.

Circle’s IPO further reinforced this trend last year, creating a clear divergence on Solana as market confidence rotated toward USDC while USDT adoption lagged. 

Meanwhile, on-chain data points to continued capital inflows. According to DeFiLlama, stablecoin supply on Solana has climbed 3.5% this week, adding nearly $540 million in fresh inflows and pushing total supply close to its $16 billion all-time high.

Even so, USDC still accounts for over 51% of the supply, reinforcing its dominant position within Solana’s DeFi ecosystem.

However, the recent Drift hack may mark a turning point.

At the market level, the debate is shifting toward risk perception. Traders are now weighing what carries greater systemic risk—USDT’s “occasional” depeg events or exploited funds remaining active when issuers choose not to freeze assets.

Following Tether’s $150 million recovery proposal, Circle now appears higher on the market’s perceived risk scale.

In this context, USDT’s 7.98% monthly growth on Solana compared to USDC’s 3.31% decline doesn’t look like a one-off move.

Instead, it could signal the early phase of a broader rotation, with USDT gaining momentum and positioning itself as a key
