South Korean payments provider NHN KCP to build own Layer 1 on Avalanche
South Korean payment service provider NHN has partnered with Avalanche’s Ava Labs to build a payments-focused Layer 1 network.

The two will also jointly pursue business opportunities in tokenized deposits, stablecoins, and cross-border payments.
NHN KCP, a South Korean payment service provider, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Ava Labs to develop a payments-focused Layer 1 network.

NHN, together with the developer behind Avalanche, aims to establish a mainnet for real-world payment use cases, utilizing Ava Cloud — Ava Labs' service that enables companies to launch and manage their own L1 blockchains.

According to a statement shared with The Block, the partnership will focus on three key pillars: ultra-fast payment authorization with sub-one-second payment processing, onchain encryption of transaction data, and a payment ecosystem with customizable infrastructure for merchants.

"This agreement is highly significant as it combines NHN KCP's industry-leading payment operational expertise with world-class blockchain technology to derive an innovative model that can be immediately applied to real-world business," said Jun-seok Park, CEO of NHN KCP.

The two companies plan to verify the technical feasibility of the joint project through a proof-of-concept and expand their connections with global financial and payment companies.

In a response to The Block's inquiry, Ava Labs Head of Asia Justin Kim said the launch date for the upcoming L1 largely depends on the passage of the pending crypto regulation in South Korea.

In addition to building the L1, NHN and Ava Labs said they will jointly explore new business opportunities in digital commerce, including tokenized deposit models, multi-stablecoin settlement structures, and cross-border payments.

With safer assets paying more, institutional demand for risk assets like Bitcoin naturally weakens.
As Ecoinometrics noted, without a liquidity tailwind, Bitcoin struggles to sustain upward momentum.
Market structure keeps capping rallies
Beyond macro factors, trader behavior is also reinforcing resistance levels.
Analysts point out a repeated pattern:
Long positions decrease when price approaches resistance
Short positions increase at the same levels
Profit-taking intensifies on each rally
This creates a self-reinforcing ceiling, with Bitcoin repeatedly failing to break above the ~$74K–$75K zone.
Is momentum returning?
There are early signs of stabilization.
On-chain analyst Willy Woo recently noted that:
Capital flows into BTC have turned positive for the first time since January
Liquidity conditions are slowly improving
Derivatives markets are attempting to recover after major stress events
This suggests the market may be transitioning from contraction to stabilization—but not yet expansion.
Key level to watch: $80K
Despite current weakness, $80,000 is emerging as a critical threshold. A clean breakout above it would likely signal a return of stronger trend conditions.
Until then, Bitcoin appears to be in a phase of:
👉 low liquidity
👉 inconsistent inflows
👉 range-bound price action
Bottom line
This isn’t a breakdown—but it’s not a breakout either.
The market is in a waiting phase where macro liquidity, ETF flows, and investor risk appetite must align again before a true uptrend can resume.

The first three months of the year saw heavy macro volatility, and traders responded by moving into hedging instruments and alternative assets. MEXC answered with a record quarter of expansion across TradFi Futures (volume up over 246%), new listings (399 tokens), and AI feature success (1.04 million cumulative users). The new listings program delivered strong results across the quarter. The top 10 tokens by spot trading volume posted an average peak gain of 2,534%.  SOL-based projects dominated the upper end of the gains table, but the volume leaderboard told a different story. AI-related tokens claimed four of the top ten spots there, spanning computing infrastructure, trading tools, and agent protocols. RWA and exchange tokens also broke through in Q1, pointing to fresh demand narratives heading into Q2. TradFi Futures was the quarter’s breakout vertical. Listed instruments grew from 71 in January to 115 in March, trading volume surged over 246% across the same period, and monthly active traders increased roughly 59%.  The momentum showed up in market share, too.
