This signals delayed rate cuts and tighter liquidity for risk assets, which often pressure Bitcoin and altcoins.

Why the Iran War Lowered Fed Rate Cuts?
Before the U.S-Israel and Iran conflict escalated, markets expected four rate cuts this year. But the war caused oil prices to jump to nearly $118 per barrel, keeping inflation high at around 3%, above the Fed’s 2% goal. 

Because of this, the Fed decided to keep rates steady at 3.50%–3.75%.

Minutes from their March meeting show that Fed officials are taking a careful, “wait-and-see” approach. Some experts hope they can lower rates later if inflation drops

Fed officials also warned that higher oil prices from Middle East tensions could push short-term inflation higher, making it harder to reduce rates safely.

The discussion around the CLARITY Act is intensifying day by day, and in a recent turn of events, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has also stepped in.

Urging Congress, Secretary Bessent has demanded the passage of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. Introduced in 2025, the bill is still finding common ground with both the crypto industry and the banking community, but consensus remains elusive.

Remarking on the same, Bessent said,

Congress must pass the Clarity Act. Senate floor time is scarce, and now is the time to act.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s point of argument

As reported by The Wall Street Journal, the Secretary drew comparisons with other countries, calling for clear federal rules for digital assets. This, in turn, he believes, would enable widespread developments and efficient investment, crucial for the largest economy by nominal GDP to prevail.

Comparing the U.S. with other countries, Bessent added,

A growing share of crypto development relocated to places ​with clear rules, such as Abu Dhabi and Singapore. Abroad, firms knew ​when and how to register, what standards to meet, and how to operate.

Highlighting the risks in the U.S., he summed it up best when he said,

The benefits of domiciling in the U.S. rarely outweighed the risks.

Needless to say, this isn’t the first time Bessent has stepped in to highlight the importance of clear rules in the digital assets space. Back in February, he had underlined that the bill would provide “great comfort to the market” in times of volatility.

Market conditions and others in support

Echoing similar sentiments, Senator Cynthia Lummis also noted,

We have the Administration, the momentum, and we’ve made bipartisan progress.

The shift in fundamentals is most evident in investor sentiment. Data from CoinMarketCap shows that market participants are steadily withdrawing support from EdgeX [EDGEX].

Community Sentiment, which tracks whether investors are bullish or bearish, has flipped decisively. Historically, strong imbalances in this metric tend to align with broader market direction.

Within 24 hours, bullish sentiment dropped from over 80% on the 8th of April to just 33% at press time. This sharp reversal indicates that roughly 66% of investors now expect a further downside, marking a clear transition from optimism to caution.

That shift has translated directly into price action, with EDGEX trending lower as bearish expectations take hold.

Holder exits accelerate capital outflow

Beyond sentiment, on-chain participation also reflects growing weakness.

The total number of holders fell from 26,480 to 24,890, meaning approximately 1,600 wallets exited their positions entirely within a short period.

Although it remains unclear whether the selling pressure came primarily from whales, who control 79.89% of supply, or retail investors holding the remaining 20.11%, such a contraction in holder base typically signals declining confidence and reduced market participation.

Ethereum’s current price structure is being compared to a phase that once played out in a major stock price, where years of sideways movement and repeated rejections eventually gave way to a powerful breakout above resistance. The comparison, shared by crypto analyst Crypto Tice on X, points out that what looks like long-term stagnation around $2,000 on Ethereum’s chart may be a setup that has appeared before in Netflix’s price history.

A Repeating Structure Inside A Range
Technical patterns have a way of resurfacing across different markets, which is why analysts often study past price behavior of one cryptocurrency to predict how another cryptocurrency could also play out in the future. In many cases, these comparisons stay within the crypto market itself or extend to traditional stores of value like precious metals, where similarities in cycles and investor behavior are easier to justify.

This analysis, however, takes a different approach by stepping outside those usual comparisons. It provides a comparison between Ethereum’s current price structure and the way Netflix, Inc. (NFLX) traded between 2003 and 2009.

The chart highlights a sequence of six distinct interactions with range boundaries in both assets. In Netflix’s case, the price spent years bouncing between support and resistance, forming a compressed structure with multiple failed breakout attempts. Each rejection added to the range but also built pressure over time.

Ethereum’s price action on a multi-year timeframe is showing a nearly identical formation. Since 2021, the Ethereum price has repeatedly pushed into resistance around $4,900, pulled back to support, and returned again for another attempt.

The current price action, which is the sixth interaction, places Ethereum near the lower boundary of the range, which is just the same stage Netflix was before its eventual breakout.
