Once again, Shiba Inu is getting close to the 82 trillion $SHIB exchange reserve threshold, one of the most closely watched on-chain levels in its ecosystem. Following months of erratic outflows and accumulation activity, centralized exchanges currently hold approximately 81.9-82.3 trillion $SHIB tokens, according to recent exchange reserve and netflow data. This represents a significant change in supply dynamics.

Shiba Inu's supply grows

This is important because exchange reserves are tokens that can be sold easily. Large $SHIB movements onto centralized exchanges are typically interpreted by the market as increasing sell pressure. When getting ready to rotate liquidity, reduce exposure, or take profits, traders and whales typically move assets to exchanges. In the past, times of lower price momentum and heavy distribution have been associated with $SHIB crossing above the 82 trillion range.

However, the current state of affairs is more complex than a simple bearish signal. Recent data also reveals significant outflows from exchanges over the past few weeks, and exchange netflow metrics remain erratic. While some analysts contend that long-term holders are still accumulating despite the growing reserve amount, others interpret the return to 82 trillion as proof that sellers are regaining control of the short-term market structure.

The uncertainty is reflected in the chart itself. Before establishing a rounded accumulation base in March and April, $SHIB experienced months of severe declines. The price then formed a rising triangle structure with horizontal resistance between $0.0000064 and $0.0000065, and ascending support close to $0.0000060. However, $SHIB recently slipped back beneath resistance after failing to maintain its breakout attempt, indicating that buyers still lack the momentum to

Lombard Finance, one of the largest Bitcoin-native liquid staking platforms in the DeFi ecosystem, reported that it will move more than $1 billion in Bitcoin-backed assets from LayerZero’s infrastructure to Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). Those responsible for the protocol confirmed that they will completely eliminate LayerZero from their interoperability architecture. This drastic decision responds to an internal security review following the April 2026 exploit that drained $292 million from KelpDAO, a product that relied directly on LayerZero’s technology.

This is not an isolated move by Lombard Finance, but part of a massive exodus in the DeFi sector, where nearly $4 billion in assets are migrating to Chainlink CCIP due to the distrust generated by its competitor’s recent security failures. Chainlink’s architecture, backed by decentralized oracle networks and multiple independent validation layers, along with its recent SOC 2 Type 2 compliance certification, has consolidated its position as the most robust bridging infrastructure in the current market, boosting its total value locked.

For Lombard users, the transition of their liquid staking tokens (LBTC) will be executed seamlessly and without interruptions to cross-chain services. The protocol’s next strategic step will focus on finalizing the integration of Chainlink’s multi-layer validation model across all supported blockchain networks, mitigating known attack vectors. The evolution of this ecosystem will determine whether the concentration of billions of dollars in CCIP creates a new systemic risk of a single point of failure for decentralized finance.

The CLARITY Act Is Not The Only Win For XRP, Here Are Other Wins For Ripple

Crypto pundit Pumpius has revealed how the CLARITY Act represents a “massive” win for XRP with key provisions to protect its ecosystem. He also alluded to another recent development, which will enable the altcoin to take over the global financial system. 

Pundit Highlights CLARITY Act As A Major Win For XRP
In an X post, Pumpius alluded to section 604 of the CLARITY Act as a massive win for XRP. The section focuses on the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act, which protects crypto developers. He noted that if someone builds an open-source blockchain software and does not control users’ funds, then they will not be classified as a money transmitter. 

Furthermore, these developers won’t have any obligations to the FinCEN or be subject to federal criminal law or state registration rules. Pumpius declared that writing code is not money transmission, nor is building self-custody tools or running nodes. As such, this is expected to build the confidence of developers in the XRP Ledger ecosystem. 

Pumpius noted that for years, developers have lived in fear that publishing code could cause legal trouble, but now, with this provision, that fear “just got deleted.” He added that this is the clearest, strongest legal shield ever given to the open-source developers powering the crypto industry and that it is a huge victory for Ripple and XRP. 

The CLARITY Act advanced yesterday as the Senate Banking Committee voted 15 to 9 in bipartisan support for the crypto bill. The bill will now head to the full Senate for consideration and a vote to pass it into law. XRP and the broader crypto market notably rallied yesterday on the back of the development, as market participants continue to price in the possibility of regulatory clarity soon.
