WLFI Crashes 12% on Dolomite Loan Liquidation Fears

World Liberty Financial's 3.9-point drop over the last 23 hours stems from market reaction to a controversial self-collateralized loan on Dolomite that drained liquidity and sparked liquidation fears, compounded by governance uncertainty around token unlocks and insider-friendly structures that diverge sharply from the otherwise stable broader crypto market.

World Liberty Financial deposited approximately 5 billion WLFI tokens (roughly 5 percent of total supply) as collateral on Dolomite to borrow between $75 million and $150 million in stablecoins, primarily USD1 and USDC, according to on-chain data tracked by Arkham and other analysts. This single position pushed Dolomite's USD1 pool to near 100 percent utilization, meaning most available stablecoin liquidity was borrowed and other depositors at times could not withdraw their funds.

Over $40 million of the borrowed stablecoins were transferred to Coinbase Prime shortly before or around major Trump-related geopolitical announcements, a move that commentators framed as a red flag about intent and governance. The timing raised questions about whether the loan was designed to extract liquidity ahead of anticipated volatility rather than to support protocol growth.

The structure creates reflexive risk. If WLFI's price falls, the collateral value shrinks, moving the position closer to liquidation. Because WLFI dominates Dolomite's collateral and liquidity, forced liquidation at scale would likely be unfillable without steep discounts, leaving depositors exposed to bad debt. DeFi analysts have repeatedly highlighted this concentration risk, noting that the protocol's health is now tied directly to WLFI's price stability.

Dogecoin Experiments With Quantum-Resistant Transactions, DOGE Engineer Weighs In
The crypto sector continues to experiment with upgrades to build quantum resilience following Google's major research update at the close of March.

Google researchers warned that future quantum computers may be able to break some of the cryptography protecting digital assets, including Dogecoin, with fewer resources than previously thought, adding urgency to the debate over how the industry should prepare.

In its research, Google divided the quantum risk profiles of popular blockchains into four categories. Dogecoin belongs to a category that consists of protocols in which it is possible for individual users to avoid the long-term exposure of quantum-vulnerable public keys. This category includes UTXO-based ledgers.

These protocols allow users to secure assets with ephemeral public keys hidden behind a cryptographic hash, which makes it possible for cautious users to evade at-rest attacks. This leaves only the possibility of on-spend attacks that are more challenging for a quantum attacker. Vulnerabilities primarily stem from public key exposure driven by user practices such as address reuse.

Dogecoin experiments quantum resilience

Google indicated that the clearest defense for the crypto industry is a shift toward post-quantum cryptography, or PQC, a newer form of security designed to withstand attacks from powerful machines.

In this light, Dogecoin Foundation director Timothy Stebbing indicated that Dogecoin Core developer Michin Lumin and the Dogecoin Foundation team have successfully executed an experimental post-quantum secure transaction on the Dogecoin mainnet. "Experimentation continues," he added.
