Quantum computers will not destroy Bitcoin – Michael Saylor
Michael Saylor, CEO of Strategy and one of Bitcoin's most outspoken supporters, believes that fears about quantum computing are overblown.
In a recent interview , he stated that concerns about Bitcoin’s cryptographic vulnerability are being used as a marketing tool by promoters of so-called “quantum-resistant” tokens.
Saylor sees no real threat on the horizon. He pointed out that companies like Google and Microsoft would be the first to suffer if modern encryption suddenly became obsolete, and therefore have a strong incentive to protect it. “ They’re not going to release tools that can break their own systems ,” he noted.
Other experts agree that the threat is far from immediate. Blockstream CEO Adam Beck acknowledges that quantum computing could become mainstream one day, but insists that it will take decades. In the meantime, the Bitcoin community is already laying the groundwork to stay ahead — developing incremental upgrades that could protect funds from future advances without breaking the system.
Instead of panicking, Beck recommends methodical evolution. Incorporating advanced cryptography like Schnorr signatures and SLH-DSA would offer improved security with minimal impact on users. The goal is to avoid the market panic caused by media hype about lab-based breaches that won’t affect crypto systems for years.
In short, the message from the advocates of PTS is clear: Keep calm, keep building, and don't give in to sensational headlines about quantum threats.
