Solana rolls out Pay.sh with Google Cloud to bring pay-per-use API payments to AI

The Solana Foundation has introduced Pay.sh, a new payment gateway built in collaboration with Google Cloud, aimed at enabling autonomous AI agents to access and pay for APIs using stablecoins on the Solana network.

The launch targets a growing friction point in the AI economy: while agents increasingly automate workflows, access to enterprise-grade APIs still requires manual onboarding, credentials, and billing relationships.

Pay.sh attempts to remove those barriers.

What is Pay.sh?

Pay.sh is a gateway that allows AI agents to discover APIs in one place, access them without creating accounts and pay per request using stablecoins.

Instead of traditional authentication systems, the model replaces credentials with payments, effectively making each transaction its own authorization.

How it works

The system is designed to let AI agents not just access services, but also handle payments seamlessly within the same workflow, removing the need for separate billing or authentication steps:

Users connect a Solana wallet to AI interfaces such as Gemini or Claude

Funds can be added via credit card or stablecoins

Agents can then browse APIs, view pricing in real time, and execute calls instantly

Under the hood, Pay.sh operates as an API proxy layer on Google Cloud infrastructure.

It routes requests to services like Gemini, BigQuery, and Cloud Run

Payments are processed via Solana and settled within seconds

The protocol enforces enterprise-grade controls such as rate limits and access permissions

In essence, the wallet becomes both identity and payment mechanism.

Sequans said it sold 1,025 bitcoin, reducing holdings from 2,139 BTC to 1,114 BTC as of April 30.

The company linked bitcoin sales to convertible debt redemptions and ADS buybacks, while reporting revenue of $6.1 million, down 24.8% year-on-year.
Paris-based Sequans Communications trimmed its bitcoin (BTC) holdings by nearly half during the first quarter, selling 1,025 BTC to finance convertible debt redemptions and an ADS buyback program.

The transaction reduced the firm’s total digital asset reserves from 2,139 BTC at the end of 2025 to 1,114 BTC by the close of April, it said in a statement on Tuesday. Of the remaining bitcoin position, 817 BTC, representing over 70% of its current holdings, is pledged as collateral for $35.9 million in outstanding convertible notes.

The sales occurred alongside a 24.8% year-on-year decline in total revenue, which fell to $6.1 million in the first quarter of 2026.

According to the statement, Sequans reported an operating loss of $50.5 million for the quarter, compared to a loss of $6.8 million in the first quarter of 2025. This figure included $29.3 million in unrealized impairment losses on its bitcoin investment and $11.7 million in realized net losses from digital asset sales.

The latest sale follows earlier disposals after Sequans began accumulating bitcoin in July 2025, when CEO Georges Karam announced a plan to amass 3,000 BTC in "weeks," framing the initiative as a "long-term store of value for our shareholders."

Four months later, in November, Sequans sold approximately 970 BTC, cutting its holdings from 3,234 BTC to 2,264 BTC to redeem $94.5 million of convertible debt.

According to his analysis, the structure suggests a potential downside floor of around $0.90 in an aggressive bearish cycle, with higher breakout targets reaching $13 and higher during cyclical times. Such estimates are based on historical compression patterns, which involve long periods of consolidation before significant directional movements.
