IB1T’s rise could reshape Europe’s battle for institutional Bitcoin capital — and the numbers arriving this week make that case impossible to dismiss.

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin ETP (IB1T) crossed $1.1 billion in assets under management as of May 1, 2026, holding approximately 14,200 $BTC across major European exchanges including Euronext Amsterdam, Euronext Paris, and Xetra Frankfurt.

In just over a year since its March 2025 launch, IB1T has become one of the fastest-growing Bitcoin investment products in Europe. The institutional appetite it represents is no longer a U.S.-only story.

Europe Finally Has Its Own Regulated Bitcoin On-Ramp

IB1T is physically backed — Bitcoin held in cold storage through Coinbase Custody International — giving European institutions direct, auditable exposure without the operational complexity of self-custody.

It operates under the EU’s MiCA regulation — a framework that standardises custody, transparency, and investor protection rules across all member states.

That matters because for years, European pension funds, asset managers, and wealth managers had no equivalent to what U.S. institutions accessed through IBIT. IB1T fills that gap — compliantly, on familiar exchanges, at a familiar cost.

The product carries a total expense ratio of 0.15% — supported by a fee waiver in place until December 31, 2026 — making it directly competitive with U.S. spot products on cost.

European allocators have cited currency risk, inflation, and geopolitical developments as the primary drivers behind their Bitcoin exposure decisions.

IB1T’s MiCA-compliant structure removes the compliance barriers that previously kept many of them on the sideline.

The breakout zone sits around the $9-$10 range. $LINK now trades above several key support levels. The chart also shows major resistance zones near $12.50, $14.50, and $19.50. If bullish momentum continues, traders will likely watch those levels as the next upside targets.

Above that, the chart points toward the $26-$30 range, where $LINK previously faced heavy rejection during rallies. On the other hand, failure to hold above the breakout area near $9 could push the token back toward support zones around $8.70 and $7.80.

DEEP price pushing to break the range resistance



The price action charts confirmed the increase in speculative trading as DEEP attempted to break past the consolidation. The altcoin had been moving sideways for the past 100 days.

The Choppiness Index reading sharply dropped to 32, suggesting the trend was strong. However, capital inflow remained in the negative territory as per Chaikin Money Flow (CMF).

A break past the range’s high at around $0.0380 would ignite reversal chances. However, for the bullish reversal to be confirmed on the daily chart, DEEP has to reclaim the most recent lower high as support. This lower high was around $0.06.



If that reversal occurred, the next resistances that could curtail the uptrend were at $0.07 and $0.08. Sellers at these levels may react.

While the rally looked to be sustainable, the network’s activity gave a different story.

Swiss central bank bitcoin reserve push fails over signature shortfallSwiss campaigners will drop a bid to get the Swiss National Bank (SNB) to hold bitcoin in its reserves after collecting only about half of the 100,000 signatures needed to trigger a national referendum.

The initiative sought to change Switzerland’s constitution so the SNB would hold bitcoin alongside gold and foreign-currency reserves. The group had 18 months to gather signatures and push for the country’s direct democracy to vote on the subject.

The Federal Chancellery listed the proposal as an amendment to the country’s Federal Constitution, requiring part of the SNB’s monetary reserves to be held in gold and bitcoin. The text did not specify an allocation.

The campaign had framed bitcoin as a neutral reserve asset and a hedge against exposure to dollar- and euro-denominated holdings. Supporters said those currencies make up roughly three-quarters of the SNB’s foreign-currency reserves, according to Reuters.

The SNB had already rejected the idea last year, when it opposed adding bitcoin to its reserves over concerns surrounding the cryptocurrency’s liquidity and volatility.
