Two major US exchange powerhouses are moving against a top decentralized trading venue. According to Bloomberg,  York Stock Exchange, are urging US authorities to regulate Hyperliquid amid concerns that its largely offshore, lightly regulated trading environment could be vulnerable to market manipulation and sanctions evasion.
Hyperliquid’s native HYPE token slipped approximately 6% in reaction to the development, moving from above $45 to below $43, per CoinGecko. It has a market cap of around $10.3 billion, making it the 13th-largest crypto asset globally.
The exchanges argue that Hyperliquid’s growing trading volumes in crypto and commodity-linked markets could begin to distort price discovery in critical sectors like oil, where global benchmarks are formed. They warn that anonymous trading environments may allow insiders or state-linked participants to influence prices.

The push, which includes calls for registration with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, comes as CME advances plans to expand its own 24/7 crypto trading offerings.

CME has been steadily expanding its own crypto derivatives offerings. Bitcoin Volatility Futures contracts are scheduled to begin trading June 1, and Nasdaq CME Crypto Index Futures, a multi-asset product spanning BTC, ETH, XRP, and others, launch a week later on June 8.

According to BOJ data released Friday, the corporate goods price index (CGPI), which tracks prices companies charge each other for goods and services, climbed 4.9% year-over-year in April. The increase far exceeded market expectations of a 3.0% rise and accelerated sharply from March's 2.9% gain. It marked the fastest pace of wholesale inflation since May 2023. The sharp rise in producer prices comes as escalating conflict involving Iran and the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz continue to disrupt global oil supplies. Japan, which relies heavily on imported energy from the Middle East, has been particularly vulnerable to the surge in crude oil and fuel costs.Import prices measured in yen jumped 17.5% in April from a year earlier, the biggest increase since December 2022. The weaker Japanese yen has amplified the impact of higher energy costs, putting additional pressure on corporate profits and production
expenses. Petroleum and coal product prices rose 5.3% in April due to higher crude oil and jet fuel costs. Meanwhile, chemical goods prices surged 9.2%, the fastest increase since September 2022, as naphtha prices skyrocketed 79.4%.Economists say the broader spread of inflation across industries could push the BOJ toward tightening monetary policy sooner than expected.

Bitcoin has been seeing recurring mid-month strength this year, and it is becoming harder to separate it from Strategy's (formerly MicroStrategy) expanding preferred-stock machine. World Liberty Financial co-founder Zak Folkman is pushing back against allegations that the Trump-backed DeFi project hid a “backdoor” function in its smart contracts. His defense is straightforward: everything was on-chain, visible to anyone who cared to look.
The person doing the looking, and not liking what he found, is Tron founder Justin Sun. Sun filed a federal lawsuit against WLF in California, alleging fraud and breach of contract over what he describes as a hidden blacklisting function embedded in the $WLFI token’s smart contract. The function, Sun claims, was used to freeze approximately $107M in tokens sitting in his wallet.

Sun alleges that WLF’s smart contract for the $WLFI token contains a blacklisting function that gives the project unilateral power to freeze or seize user funds without prior notice. Folkman’s counter-argument leans on the fundamental nature of blockchain technology. Smart contracts are public code. Anyone with a block explorer and basic Solidity literacy can audit what a contract does before committing a single dollar. All functions and unlocks, Folkman says, were visible from the start.
The question isn’t whether the function existed on-chain. It’s whether investors were meaningfully informed about its implications before putting money in.

How the relationship soured

Sun wasn’t some random holder who got caught in a compliance sweep. He invested around $45M in $WLFI tokens and took on an advisory role with the project, with total capital commitments estimated at $75M.
Sun’s wallet was blacklisted in September 2025, freezing the approximately $107M in $WLFI tokens. Sun had been an advisor and major backer, and then suddenly found his tokens frozen.
