Bitcoin has stalled just short of the 200-day MA
The crypto market capitalisation has remained around $2.69 trillion, as the largest coins by market cap consolidate following their recent gains, while smaller altcoins have accelerated their growth. The top performers over the last 24 hours were Toncoin (+29%), NEAR (+10.7%) and Internet Computer (+9.6%). The worst performers were recent stars such as Zcash (-5%), Doge (-3.8%) and Bitcoin Cash (-2.9%).

Bitcoin rose to $82.8K on Wednesday, approaching but not breaking through the 200-day moving average (currently at $83.2K). From its local highs, the leading cryptocurrency retreated to $81.3K at the time of writing, pausing its upward momentum. This pause also coincided with the RSI touching the overbought zone (>70) on daily timeframes. It is worrying that the previous three touches of these levels (in August, October and January) were followed by sharp selloffs. It is quite logical that market participants are taking a breather to assess the situation and gather strength. Thus, the current pause is not a sign of buyer exhaustion.

The Bitcoin futures market is experiencing its longest streak of negative funding rates in the last 10 years: it has remained in negative territory for 67 consecutive days, according to K33 Research. This situation heightens the risk of a short squeeze.

XWIN Japan identifies the $93K level as a key medium-term target for Bitcoin, driven by the closing of the price gap on the CME. However, the movement will not necessarily be straightforward, and the market may initially move lower.

The options market does not confirm a full-fledged breakout, QCP Capital points out. Monthly implied volatility remains around 41%, and demand for put options persists: market participants are buying Bitcoin but continue to hedge their risks.

Monero price is trading at $405.79 on Thursday, retaining a constructive bullish bias as it extends above the 50-day, 100-day and 200-day Exponential Moving Averages, which cluster in the $366–$369 area and now reinforce the broader uptrend.

$XMR is also holding over the 23.6% Fibonacci retracement at about $399.80, suggesting shallow corrective interest so far. At the same time, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) on the daily chart near 64 stays positive but shy of overbought territory. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) remains in positive territory, hinting that upside momentum is still in play rather than exhausted.

On the downside, initial support is seen at the 23.6% retracement near $399.80, ahead of the horizontal level at $386.85; a deeper pullback would bring the EMA cluster around $369–$366 into focus, before the more distant structural floor at $292.49.

On the topside, the next resistance is aligned at the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement around $476.04, with further barriers at the 50% retracement level near $537.66, followed by the 61.8% retracement at $599.27 and the 78.6% marker around $687.00, where profit-taking could intensify if the rally extends.

Boston Fed President Susan Collins backed holding rates steady and urged the Fed to strip out language that implicitly points to cuts as the next move, reinforcing a higher‑for‑longer stance that has repeatedly whipsawed crypto when markets price in dovish pivots too early.

Collins told reporters she backed the latest decision to keep rates on hold but “hopes to adjust the wording of the statement to avoid implying a rate cut,” according to a summary of her remarks carried by Jinshi and echoed in recent coverage of her speeches. She added that “an increasing number of officials” want the Federal Open Market Committee to signal that the next policy move “could be either a rate cut or a rate hike,” rather than embedding a dovish bias into forward guidance.
That message is consistent with Collins’s recent comments. In late February, she said it was “quite likely” the central bank would keep rates unchanged “for some time,” arguing that after cumulative easing, policy was already “mildly restrictive, perhaps quite close to neutral,” and that a “patient and deliberate approach is appropriate at this stage.” In March, she told another audience she saw “no urgency” to change rates and would need “clear evidence” that inflation is moving sustainably toward 2% before supporting cuts.

Collins has for months been part of the Fed’s higher‑for‑longer camp. In prior cycles, she repeatedly set a “high bar” for additional easing, saying she would be “reluctant to support further interest rate cuts anytime soon with inflation still high,” and warning that premature easing could “delay – or potentially halt – the return of inflation to the target level.”
Her latest push to strip out language that hints at cuts matters for markets that have spent much of 2026 front‑running dovish pivots.

South Korean crypto exchange Upbit has added B3 to its Korean won market, giving local traders direct access to the Base-linked token.

Trading was first scheduled for 13:45 KST on May 7, before Upbit moved the start time to 14:00 KST.

B3 is a layer-3 blockchain built on Base, the Ethereum layer-2 network developed with the OP Stack. The Upbit listing gives the token access to one of Asia’s most active retail crypto markets.

Exchange sets early trading limits
Upbit said deposits and withdrawals will only support B3 through the Base network. The exchange also asked users to confirm the contract address before sending funds. Deposits through unsupported networks may face a long refund process.

The exchange placed normal controls on early trading. Buy orders were restricted for about five minutes after launch. Upbit also limited low-price sell orders and restricted non-limit order types for about two hours.

Upbit warned, “If a certain level of liquidity is not secured after the commencement of deposit and withdrawal services, the start of trading support may be postponed.” The notice shows the exchange kept room to adjust trading if market depth was weak.

B3 joins recent Upbit listing wave
The listing comes after several Upbit market additions drove fresh attention to selected tokens. As crypto.news reported yesterday, Dogwifhat rose after Upbit added WIF trading pairs against KRW, $BTC, and $USDT on May 6. The report also noted that new listings can expose traders to fast price swings.

Earlier, crypto.news reported that Centrifuge jumped more than 180% after Upbit announced trading support. Another report said Internet Computer added about $100 million in market value after Upbit opened ICP trading against KRW, $BTC, and $USDT.
