U.S. Representative Sheri Biggs disclosed a purchase of up to $250,000 in BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF.

The filing reportedly ranks among the largest bitcoin-related trades reported by an active member of Congress.
Rep. Sheri Biggs has disclosed a purchase of up to $250,000 in BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF, one of the largest bitcoin-related trades publicly reported by an active member of Congress.

A House periodic transaction report filed this week shows Biggs’ spouse purchased shares of the fund on March 4 in the $100,001 to $250,000 range through a professionally managed UBS account held in the W.S.B Trust.

The fund, known by its ticker IBIT, is BlackRock’s spot bitcoin exchange-traded fund, which directly tracks the price of Bitcoin.
Unlike an earlier disclosure tied to a similar purchase last year, the latest filing appears to comply with the STOCK Act’s 45-day reporting window. The March 4 trade was disclosed on April 16, 43 days later.

Biggs previously reported another IBIT purchase in the same dollar range tied to a July 2025 transaction. That filing was submitted late as part of a broader batch of delayed disclosures that drew scrutiny over congressional trading transparency, Yahoo Finance reported at the time.

No allegation of wrongdoing has been made in either case, and the latest filing states the account is professionally managed.

SEC charges Bitcoin Latinum founder over alleged $16M investor fraud

The US SEC brought enforcement action against Donald G. Basile and his companies, GIBF GP, Inc. and Monsoon Blockchain Corporation, over a $16 million crypto securities offering tied to Bitcoin Latinum (LTNM), which Basile launched in 2020.

According to the SEC, Basile, through GIBF and Monsoon, sold Simple Agreements for Future Tokens (SAFTs), promising future delivery of a token called Bitcoin Latinum, which ultimately failed.

Regulators claim Basile misrepresented key aspects of the project, including nonexistent insurance coverage, false claims of asset backing, and misleading statements about how investor funds would be used to support the token ecosystem.

The SEC also alleges that rather than using investor funds as promised, the entrepreneur misappropriated millions for personal uses, including real estate purchases, credit card payments, and a high-value horse.

The project ultimately failed. LTNM was never properly launched or listed on major exchanges, activity ceased, and the token became worthless, leaving investors with major losses.

The SEC charges GIBF and Monsoon with violating the anti-fraud provisions of federal securities laws and that Basile is directly liable as well as responsible for aiding the violations.

The SEC is seeking permanent injunctions, repayment of ill-gotten gains with interest, civil penalties, and a ban preventing Basile from serving as an officer or director of a public company, along with other equitable remedies.

Iran's Friday announcement that the Strait of Hormuz would be opened during the current ceasefire triggered one of the sharpest oil reversals of the year.

Brent crude fell 12.95% to $86.52, and WTI dropped 14.26% to $81.19, both their lowest levels since Mar. 11 and the largest single-day declines since Apr. 8. US stocks surged, bond yields dropped, the dollar weakened, and Bitcoin registered an intraday high of $78,336.

Traders stripped the war premium they had spent weeks layering into crude prices, and risk assets repriced accordingly.

Yesterday, the Strait was opened on Iranian terms. Commercial vessels required authorization from Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization and the IRGC and had to transit through Iran-designated safe lanes, but the US blockade on Iranian shipping remains fully in place until a broader diplomatic settlement.

That window has already narrowed. As of Apr. 18, Iran said it had closed the Strait again after the US left its blockade in place, pushing the market back into a countdown toward the Apr. 22 ceasefire deadline.

Only eight oil and gas tankers moved during the reopening, underscoring how far the route remains from anything resembling normal traffic.
