Tom, the founder of OpenFind, has drawn attention to a research paper co-authored by the Fed Chair Kevin Warsh, in which they highlighted XRP. Specifically, the paper discussed cross-border payments and how crypto assets such as XRP could serve as a bridge currency. Fed Chairman’s Research Paper Highlights XRP’s UtilityIn an X post, Tom mentioned that the new Fed chairman co-authored a paper naming XRP as a liquidity solution between stablecoins. He further mentioned that the paper clearly states that private sector infrastructure should not be ruled out in future digital money systems. The OpenFind founder noted that this is proof that private infrastructure providers like Ripple are becoming critical components of the financial system.

The 2022 paper discussed the possibility of a Special Drawing Rights-based stablecoin that can be exchanged for any national currency. The paper noted that such an arrangement could resemble the cross-border payments system that Ripple operates using XRP. Notably, the altcoin serves as the bridge currency in Ripple’s cross-border payments service, allowing customers to swap the crypto asset for their desired currency. Former Ripple CTO David Schwartz had previously commented on its role as a bridge currency, noting that it has more advantages over stablecoins since there isn’t one consensus stablecoin to settle these transactions in. Meanwhile, it is worth noting that the new Fed chair is pro-crypto and had disclosed his crypto exposure prior to his nomination hearing. Bitcoin’s price spent the past seven days pacing between $72,800 and $77,700, according to market data. Those price levels have tightened the screws on mining profitability, weighing on bitcoin mining revenue, or the value generated by 1 petahash per second (PH/s) of computing power per day, a metric better known throughout the industry as hashprice.

As of this weekend, hashprice sits at $33.71 per PH/s per day, meaning miners are earning 4.99% less than they were 30 days ago, according to hashrateindex.com data. What makes the decline more notable is that hashprice briefly touched the $39 per PH/s mark twice over the past month. At its current level, the metric sits 13.56% below those recent highs.

Bitcoin sentiment reaches most ‘lopsided positive’ ratio for 2026: Santiment

The feeling toward Bitcoin on social media has reached its most bullish level of the year, even as the overall crypto market is down, according to crypto sentiment platform Santiment.

“Sentiment on Bitcoin has spiked to 2.23 bullish comments for every bearish one — the most lopsided positive ratio of 2026,” Santiment said in a report published on Saturday.

“The previous two biggest positive-ratio days of the year preceded short-term price pullbacks, while severely negative readings marked local bottoms. The current euphoria contrasts sharply with the bearish ETF flow picture and warrants caution," Santiment said. Spot Bitcoin ETFs logged their tenth consecutive trading day of outflows on Friday, with total net redemptions exceeding $2.97 billion since May 15.

Crypto market participants often watch broader market sentiment to gauge how other investors feel and to inform their own decisions about whether to buy or sell, based on where they believe the market may be headed in the near term.

However, the market has historically moved in the opposite direction to what most market participants expect. “Extreme positive sentiment readings have historically preceded short-term pullbacks more often than continued rallies,” Santiment said.

Some traders use this contrarian view accordingly. Around the time Bitcoin fell to its yearly low of $60,000 in February, Gemini founder Tyler Winklevoss said in an X post that “the sentiment in crypto right now is so bad that I'm actually pretty optimistic.”
