Bitcoin-backed loans seen reaching $1 trillion by Ledn, a leading company in cryptocurrency-backed lending, projects that the market for bitcoin-collateralized loans could climb to $1 trillion within the next decade. This forecast is based on a striking contradiction: despite strong consumer demand, actual adoption of these products remains limited.
Strong interest, but adoption still trails
In a joint study with Protocol Theory, Ledn surveyed 1,244 cryptocurrency holders in the United States and Australia. An overwhelming 88% of respondents said they seriously consider using a crypto-backed loan or credit card. Yet, only 14% reported actually having used such products, underlining a significant gap between intent and action.
Researchers described this gap as “a six-to-one difference between consideration and use.” While curiosity runs high, the number of people who put that interest into practice remains much lower

The hourly chart shows a clean descending trendline running from the May 11 high near $2,390 all the way to present price around $2,106. Every attempted recovery has been sold into, with the $2,160 zone acting as the most recent rejection point after liquidity was swept below $2,000 on May 23.

The MACD on the hourly is showing early signs of a bullish cross, with the signal line at 0.35 and the MACD line at 0.77. That is worth watching but not enough to call a reversal while price remains inside the descending channel. A break and close above $2,160 would be the first real structural shift.

Analytics platform Santiment flagged that Ethereum’s social sentiment deteriorated sharply through May, with bullish-to-bearish commentary ratios collapsing toward parity as frustration replaced optimism. The firm pointed to poor price performance, ETF outflows, and leadership instability as narratives hitting simultaneously.

Ethereum holds 55% of stablecoins, yet ETH trades below $2.4K – Justified?
As other blockchains vie for users' attention, Ethereum remains the foundation of the stablecoin economy.Ethereum [ETH] has been the focus of attention in the stablecoin space lately. According to data from Dune Analytics, Ethereum manages roughly $190 billion of the approximately $322 billion stablecoin market.

This indicates that about 55% of all stablecoins are held by Ethereum. Additionally, only $60 billion is handled by all other blockchains combined, compared to roughly $90 billion handled by TRON [TRX]. In fact, the entire supply nearly doubled in just 24 months, and Ethereum’s market share held steady. Remarking on the same, Leon Waidmann—Head of Research at Lisk—noted,Stablecoins picked their settlement layer a long time ago.

ETH price action raises eyebrows
This coincided with Ethereum [ETH] trading around $2,116.40 after a drop of 4.4% in the past 24 hours.

Needless to say, this is startling, though, because since February 2026, ETH has been trading below $2445. Even with these sideways and stagnant moves, ETH continues to rule the stablecoin market.

Georgian government taps Tether to launch national currency stablecoin GEL₮ Tether said Monday it plans to introduce GEL₮, a stablecoin tied to the Georgian Lari, in collaboration with the Government of Georgia. The project is among the first attempts to issue a national currency directly onto blockchain-based financial rails within a purpose-built stablecoin regulatory framework.

The move comes as stablecoins gain traction for payments, settlements, remittances, and cross-border transfers. Tether’s flagship stablecoin USDT has grown to approximately $190 billion in market capitalization, with daily trading volumes frequently surpassing payment giants like Visa and Mastercard.

Tether said GEL₮ will function as a digital version of the Georgian Lari, enabling cheaper transactions, faster settlement, programmable payments, and more efficient movement of value across digital ecosystems.

The initiative is expected to support fintech innovation, regional commerce, and broader access to digital financial services.

The announcement is the culmination of years of legislative and regulatory development by the Georgian government and the National Bank of Georgia. Officials said the framework was designed to provide legal clarity for digital asset businesses and harmonize with international standards on reserve management, compliance, and issuer supervision.

Georgia is also seeking interoperability with emerging US stablecoin rules, including the GENIUS Act.

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said the partnership would help create a more transparent and digitally empowered financial future.

“Together with visionary partners like Tether, Georgia is laying the foundations for a more connected, transparent, and digitally empowered financial world,” Kobakhidze stated.
