Anchorage Digital says Bitcoin covered-call strategies can generate synthetic yield for $BTC holders, but only when managed with strict discipline. The firm’s new research warns that selling upside on Bitcoin can cushion drawdowns in weaker markets, yet cap gains sharply when $BTC enters one of its violent bull-market phases.

The analysis, written by Anchorage Digital Head of Research David Lawant, examines systematic covered-call writing on Bitcoin using hourly simulations across the Deribit implied-volatility surface. Anchorage said the study includes more than 37,000 individual backtests across every possible entry point in its October 2021 to April 2026 dataset, making it one of the more detailed attempts to define where $BTC options income works and where it breaks.

Anchorage Puts Bitcoin Yield Strategy To The Test
Anchorage argues that Bitcoin options have moved from a niche derivatives segment into an institutionally relevant market. Notional $BTC options open interest has grown roughly ten-fold over the past five years, briefly rising above $100 billion at the end of 2025 before sitting around $60 billion in the study. That level, the paper notes, is above the open interest of the entire $BTC futures market.

IBIT options have also changed the structure of the market. Launched in late 2024, they have grown quickly enough to rival Deribit as a leading venue for $BTC options open interest and trading activity. For Anchorage, that means the market institutions are evaluating today is deeper, more accessible and materially different from the one that existed 18 months earlier.

Instead, investors are aggressively repositioning around Robinhood’s expanding AI-powered financial strategy, betting the trading platform may be evolving into something much bigger than a Bitcoin proxy. With HOOD stock price now breaking above a key resistance zone of $90, the rally is raising a bigger question: Is Robinhood quietly entering its next major growth phase?

The biggest catalyst behind Robinhood’s sharp rally appears to be growing optimism surrounding the company’s newly announced AI-agent ecosystem, a move investors increasingly view as a major long-term growth driver.

Robinhood recently introduced AI-powered tools designed to help users navigate investing decisions, portfolio management, and market opportunities more efficiently. The company’s broader vision includes integrating AI agents capable of assisting users with financial actions and trading insights directly within the platform. For investors, the announcement represents something much larger than a feature update.

Wall Street increasingly appears to view Robinhood’s AI strategy as a potential engagement accelerator capable of improving user retention, boosting platform activity, and opening new monetization opportunities beyond crypto trading revenue. That distinction matters because Robinhood has long been viewed as heavily dependent on crypto-related activity, particularly during Bitcoin bull cycles.

Algorand [$ALGO] spent February and March under persistent selling pressure as the price drifted from $0.1005 towards the $0.0796 demand floor. Throughout that period, the RSI remained subdued, reflecting weak demand and steady bearish control.

Conditions, however, changed sharply in early April. The price surged from $0.0796 towards $0.1272 on the strongest volume expansion of the period, while the RSI briefly approached 80.

This combination hinted at aggressive buyer participation, rather than a simple relief rally.

Momentum later began cooling down. Although $ALGO extended towards $0.1459, the RSI failed to confirm the higher high. Consequently, participation weakened as the price gradually rotated lower through May.

At the time of writing, the market appeared to be stabilizing. The price was holding above $0.1005, while the RSI recovered to 65.22. This suggested that buyers may be re-engaging near support, even as the resistance remains firmly positioned at $0.1272.

More importantly, a breakout above $0.1272 with stronger volume would indicate renewed demand and could open a path towards $0.1459. Otherwise, failure to overcome resistance may encourage another rotation towards $0.1005, keeping $ALGO within its broader consolidation range

$ALGO now sits in the upper half of its two-month consolidation range. This means that buyers could continue holding ground, despite repeated resistance rejections. Rather than retreating toward support, the price has been anchored near $0.12 – Evidence that selling pressure might no longer be dominating market direction.
