Bitcoin (BTC) is currently trading in a consolidation range between $72,000 and $78,000, showing stability after a strong bullish rally earlier this month. The market is now in a cooling phase where buyers and sellers are balancing each other, which often happens before a major breakout. Traders are closely watching this range to identify the next direction.

One of the main factors supporting Bitcoin is the continuous rise in institutional interest. Large financial firms and investment funds are increasingly adopting BTC as a long-term asset, similar to digital gold. This growing confidence is strengthening Bitcoin's position in the global financial system and attracting more long-term investors.

From a technical perspective, $70,000 is acting as a strong support level, where buyers are actively defending the price. On the upside, resistance is forming around $78,000-$80,000. If Bitcoin breaks above this resistance with strong volume, it could trigger a bullish rally toward $85,000-$95,000 in the short term.

However, if the price fails to break resistance, a temporary pullback toward $68,000-$70,000 is possible. Market volatility still exists due to global economic factors such as interest rates, inflation, and investor sentiment, which can impact short-term movements.

The bulls confirmed the $3 area as a demand zone with the strong reaction at this level on the 20th of April. Since this retest, M has rallied by 47% in two days.

The DMI showed a strong uptrend in progress, and the OBV reflected steady buying pressure over the past six weeks. The MFI also signaled healthy upward momentum and buying pressure and has not signaled a divergence yet.

MIT Digital Currency Initiative director Neha Narula has laid out a proposed roadmap for making Bitcoin resilient to a future cryptographically relevant quantum computer, arguing the network should prioritize a practical, low-risk path that lets users secure their coins now rather than waiting for consensus on harder questions such as how to handle unmoved coins.

In a post published April 20, Narula said Bitcoin does not need “100% of the answers immediately” before taking meaningful action. Instead, she argued for a staged approach: deploy a post-quantum-safe output type and signature scheme through a soft fork, coordinate wallet and application support around it, and push users toward migration well before any true quantum emergency arrives.

Bitcoin Needs Low-Risk Quantum Defenses Now
Her core thesis is straightforward. “We should make the low-harm, low-risk, high-benefit, safety-critical mitigations NOW, and save the high-harm, high-risk mitigations for LATER, when we know with more certainty a CRQC is close,” she wrote, using CRQC to refer to a cryptographically relevant quantum computer.

The proposal Narula favors centers on P2MR, described in BIP 360, combined with a new post-quantum signature opcode and cryptographic agility. In her framing, that combination would allow Bitcoin users to move funds into an output type that remains safe against a quantum attacker, provided they do not reveal a non-post-quantum public key through address reuse or similar behavior.

“If this is done, it gives Bitcoin users the ability to move their coins to a safe output type immediately, having confidence their coins are safe even if a powerful CRQC appears, without worrying about future softforks,” she wrote. “The best candidate for this I have seen so far is P2MR (BIP 360) in conjunction with a new PQ signature opcode and cryptographic agility.”

Narula’s case is not that this solves everything. It does not. She draws a clear distinction between protecting individual users

Sun alleges an undisclosed smart contract function was used to freeze his 2.9 billion WLFI token position.

World Liberty Financial maintains the token freeze was a routine security measure, not targeted at Sun.

Sun, the founder of the Tron blockchain, first invested $30 million in World Liberty Financial in late 2024, ahead of the WLFI token’s public launch. The investment made him one of the project’s most prominent early backers and led to his appointment as an advisor. As Bitcoin.com News reported at the time, the move was seen as a high-profile endorsement of a project tied directly to Donald Trump’s political brand.By early 2025, Sun had built his WLFI position to approximately $75 million. The relationship began to unravel in September 2025 when World Liberty Financial froze his wallet, which held 540 million unlocked WLFI tokens and 2.4 billion locked tokens.

Sun alleged that the project had embedded an undisclosed “backdoor blacklisting function” in its smart contracts, a mechanism allowing issuers to freeze or effectively confiscate investor tokens without prior notice. As Bitcoin.com News reported, Sun publicly called the move the opposite of decentralization.

The complaint filed April 22 lists multiple causes of action, including breach of contract, fraud in the inducement, conversion, unjust enrichment, and declaratory relief.
