Bitcoin mining firm NYDIG already has skin in the game at the Massena, New York site — it holds a stake in Coinmint, which runs mining hardware there under a long-term lease. Now the company wants the land itself.

A Deal Years In The Making
Alcoa’s Massena East smelter went dark in 2014 after energy costs climbed and overseas competition cut into margins. The sprawling facility along the St. Lawrence River has sat idle ever since.

Based on reports, Alcoa CEO Bill Oplinger told Bloomberg the two companies are deep in talks and expects a deal to close sometime in the middle of 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed.

For NYDIG, the appeal goes beyond location. Industrial smelters are wired for round-the-clock heavy operations — they come with substations, transmission lines, and grid connections that can handle enormous power loads.

Data center operators and crypto miners often wait years to build that kind of infrastructure from scratch. At Massena, it already exists. The site also draws power from the New York Power Authority’s hydroelectric supply, which cuts costs and reduces the carbon footprint of whatever runs there next.

Old Industry, New Tenants
Massena is not the only shuttered smelter drawing interest from the digital sector. Earlier this year, Century Aluminum sold its Hawesville, Kentucky facility to TeraWulf for $200 million.

TeraWulf plans to turn the site into a high-performance computing and AI campus. Since that deal closed, TeraWulf shares have climbed 80% year-to-date, according to Yahoo Finance data.

The pattern is clear: retired heavy industry sites, long considered liabilities, are being snapped up by firms that need power and space fast. These properties offer something new construction cannot — infrastructure that is already approved, already

Despite the extended and stubborn market weakness, the Trump team has signaled another potential sale.

According to Onchain Lens, the TRUMP team sent 7.59 million TRUMP, worth $21.81 million, into BitGo Custody.

For now, these tokens have not been sold. However, the team previously moved tokens to the wallet and then deposited them into exchanges. 

If the previously observed pattern reemerges, the token will likely be sold. Selling pressure from the team, especially now with TRUMP under extreme stress, will cause downside pressure.

A 14% price jump in Ethena [ENA] has pushed the asset toward a key resistance level with a history of reversals.

Despite this make-or-break zone, experts' bold projections and rising accumulation among the top 100 holders suggest that ENA could potentially break above this prolonged barrier this time.

As of this writing, ENA was up 14.22% over the past 24 hours and is currently trading at $0.123.

With the rising price, market participants have shown notable interest in the asset, as trading volume climbed 72% to $283.55 million during the same period.

On the daily chart, ENA appears bullish, as it has recently broken out of a descending channel pattern. However, due to the key resistance at $0.1345, the price seems to be struggling to continue its rally.

The daily chart shows that ENA has been facing this resistance since the beginning of February 2026.

Total assets stand at $12.9 billion, with about 3.33 million ETH staked.

BitMine Immersion Technologies (BMNR), the largest Ethereum-focused digital asset treasury firm, increased its crypto purchase pace as Chairman Tom Lee said he sees growing signs the crypto "mini-winter" is ending.

The firm reported Monday it bought 101,627 ether (ETH) last week, the largest weekly haul since Dec. 15. The purchase, worth roughly over $230 million at current prices, lifted BitMine’s total holdings to 4.97 million ETH.
