April 20, Japan’s biggest financial institutions launched a trial to put Japanese Government Bonds on a blockchain.

Japan Securities Clearing Corporation, Mizuho Financial Group, Nomura Holdings and Digital Asset Holdings launched a proof-of-concept trial on the Canton Network on April 20 to test JGBs as digital collateral. The initiative was selected by Japan’s Financial Services Agency under its Payment Innovation Project in February 2026.

The goal is straightforward but significant. JGBs are among the highest quality collateral assets held by institutional investors globally. Right now they cannot move outside business hours. This trial tests whether that changes – 24/7 real-time collateral transfers, cross-border settlement, and full legal compatibility under Japan’s Book-Entry Transfer Act and Financial Instruments and Exchange

Strategy Blows Past 800K BTC With $2.5B Buy as Saylor Doubles Down
Strategy acquired 34,164 BTC for approximately US$2.54 billion between April 13 and April 19.
The company now holds 815,061 BTC acquired for roughly US$61.56 billion.
Strategy’s treasury represents more than 3.8% of Bitcoin’s fixed 21 million supply.
Strategy acquired 34,164 Bitcoin (BTC) for approximately US$2.54 billion (AU$3.56 billion). The company said the purchase took place between April 13 and April 19 at an average price of US$74,395 (AU$104,153) per BTC, inclusive of fees and expenses. 

Strategy disclosed the acquisition in an April 20 announcement and SEC filing, with the purchase funded through securities sales.

Zcash has found short-term stability above the $320 level after a volatile stretch that followed its early April rally.

The token is currently trading around $325.69, reflecting a 5.3% gain over the past 24 hours, even as broader crypto markets remain mostly flat.

Over the same period, Bitcoin posted a modest 0.96% increase, while the total crypto market rose just 0.63%, highlighting Zcash’s stronger relative performance.

Despite the upward move, trading activity has cooled slightly, with 24-hour volume at around $406 million, down from earlier levels.

This suggests the latest rebound is being driven more by positioning and rotation rather than fresh capital inflows.

Market rotation and privacy narrative support Zcash

Recent strength in Zcash appears closely tied to selective market rotation rather than broad crypto momentum.

The asset has outperformed Bitcoin over the same timeframe, reinforcing the idea of “alpha-driven” demand, where traders are selectively targeting privacy-focused assets.

This comes alongside increasing attention on Zcash’s privacy ecosystem.

Data shared by Grayscale shows a 304% year-over-year increase in shielded pool volume, with approximately 31% of total supply now held in shielded addresses.

This signals a continued shift toward real usage of Zcash’s privacy features, rather than purely speculative trading.

Grayscale has also emphasized the growing relevance of financial privacy as digital payment systems evolve, linking Zcash’s design to broader trends in stablecoins, AI-driven finance, and modern transaction infrastructure.
